After three more periods, two of which I had with Em, we walked to the cafeteria together. There was that smell again, the one that was on Em. We went to sit down when I gripped the table tightly. “Warren are you okay?” Em asked.
I could barely see straight, but I managed to say, “Yeah I just remembered I needed to grab something from my locker.” I dashed out of the cafeteria and into the nearest men's bathroom. I ran to a stall and promptly threw up into the toilet.
What the hell was that Cole? I shout in my head. He only chuffed in reply, regardless of the fact he just made me throw up from almost forcing me to shift, he was still very proud of himself.
Our mate. He is close by. You have to find him! He rumbled in reply.
“What?” I muttered out loud. I put my hands on my head. “You've gotta be kidding me not now.” I whispered.
When I had collected myself enough, I went back to the cafeteria and pretended I had left my phone in my locker and I had to grab it. There were a few more kids, only five other than me, Em and I having been the first two when we got there earlier, but it still seemed like they were waiting for someone.
Cole had settled, somewhat, for now. However, when I caught the scent of someone coming to our table, he almost shifted in front of the entire cafeteria. Em was shaking my shoulder, and I could faintly hear her asking if I was okay, but I couldn’t focus on anything other than the smell.
I quickly shook my head, “Yeah I just got really nauseous all of a sudden it’s passed now.” A couple of the kids exchanged glances with Em, but I was watching the one that was inducing all of my trouble. It seemed he could feel it too, as he was perspiring and seemed very fidgety and distracted, he also made a point not to look at me.
“There he is! Asher meet my new friend, Warren. He doesn’t talk much, do you?” While I shook my head, Asher examined me. He had loosely curled crimson colored hair, and his eyes, his eyes, they were a piercing green, one that made me feel as if he could see to the bottom of my soul. It was actually pretty unnerving.
“Asher cut it out! You’re practically dissecting him.” the girl sitting next to Em said. Then she turned to me, “Hi, I’m Diana, Em’s girlfriend.”
“Nice to meet you Diana.” I say as sincerely as I can, while still feeling the urge to shift.
The guys that were at my locker came over to our table, and the lead guy started speaking again. “Well hello fags, why Em, I heard something interesting. Want to know what it is?” he asked.
“No, Jacob, I do not want to know anything that comes out of your mouth.” she sighed.
“I heard, that Diana's mom is against your relationship because she's homophobic, is that true?” he asked in a stage whisper. Em looked upset, and Diana looked downright murderous as did the rest of the group.
I stood up, “Jacob, was it?” I lowered my voice as he stepped back once. I could tell I had shaken him this morning. “Let’s not have an incident. I really don’t feel like getting blood out of my clothes today.”
He sneered at me, I could tell he wanted to make an example out of me. “Listen here you little bitch, I will destroy you. You think your little speech this morning was effective?” he gave a dry laugh, “It wasn’t. In any way.” All eyes were on us at this point. He threw back his fist and hit me in the jaw. It was hard enough to make me stumble back, but not enough to throw me to the ground.
I jumped forward to him and took a jab at his eye. He wasn’t able to block it, so he could expect a fresh bruise later. He retaliated, but I sidestepped and swept his feet out from under him. Some of the students had made a ring around us, blocking any way out. He quickly got back up and threw another punch at me, I could feel my lip split as it landed on my face. I was pissed at this point. We kept going back and forth before I got the opening I wanted and I straddled him to the ground before landing a couple punches on his face before I was pulled off of him abruptly.
