I had set my alarms for every couple of hours. The kitten needed to be fed, and helped to the bathroom. I had bathed and fed her, luckily Jenny had some kitten formula from the last time she rescued one. I told her I wanted to take full responsibility for the kitten, and won the debate of whether or not I should. Jenny felt I shouldn't because I have school and I'll be up every couple hours, but I told her I'd go to bed earlier so I'd still get a good amount of sleep. However, she'd help take care of her when I was in school.
I wanted to take care of the kitten because Cole had grown really protective of her, as if he'd adopted her as his own cub. Even though he was a tiger, and a male one, who typically abadonned cubs and tigresses. However, they would tend to protect them while they were still on his territory.
Regardless of all of that, Cole didn't want anyone else to take care of this cub. Kitten, I mean.
I had no idea what to name her, but I'd wait to find one that matched her personality. I fixed up an old shoe box, putting a small pillow and blanket in it so it was warm. I made a nest out of the blanket, and found a hit water bottle to put in their with her. It would act as the body heat her siblings would give off. I'd have to keep the door shut to keep out Dracula and Toby.
I set the box on my desk, which wasn't too far away from my bed, and looked at her. She was beautiful, and I was glad we got there in time.
The next morning, after sleeping oddly, I could barely wake up. I drained two cups of coffee before leaving the house, and was still tired as I walked into the school building.
"How's the kitten? Asher told us about your daring rescue." Em says, as she and Diana walk over to me.
"She's so cute, she requires a lot of work though." I comment.
"Why don't you give her to a group or something?" Diana asks, looking at me inquisitively.
"Because-Addy!" I call out, seeing her not that far in front of us. When she said she'd be coming to school soon, I didn't think she meant two days after she got here. She turns around, walking over to us. "Hey I have to talk to you later." I tell her. There was something odd about why she was staying here, and I wanted to know what.
"Okay." she says nervously. "Hey, Derek, come over here." Addy tells the guy she had been standing with. He hesitantly walks over to us, and Addy explains who it is. It's the wolf that helped her escape, and I feel very grateful to him. He didn't let her just die.
"Thank you for saving her. She's like my sister." I tell him, looking at him seriously.
"It's what any decent wolf would've done. I'm just glad Alpha Turner is letting me join the pack. She says I have to go to school, though, something they didn't allow once you were able to shift in my old pack." Derek says. When he mentions Turner, Addy's heart rate jumps up a little, and she casts her gaze downwards. They couldn't be, could they? It would explain why she decided to stay, and why her opinion on wolves changed drastically. It made sense, but I had to ask her later.
"I'm really glad we're part of Alpha Turner's pack." Em comments.
At lunch, I sit with Asher and his friends again, and Derek and Addy sit with us as well. I sit in between Addy and Asher, and Derek sits on the other side of Addy.
"Addy, do you have a phone?" I ask.
"No, Toby destroyed it when he caught me." she tells me. Toby was the wolf that caught her outside of Malcolm's pack. "I'll need to get another one though. I need to be able to communicate." she says, as an afterthought.
"I'm sure you can get one later. We might actually have a couple new ones at the pack house." Daniel says. He hadn't been as hostile towards me, it seemed he too had learned of my past. Something that made me immensely uncomfortable. It unsettled me that they knew of my past, especially since it wasn't on my terms.
"Addy, you should come hang out with me after school." I say, I wanted to talk to her without anyone around. She nods, looking at me happily.
The conversation evolves into a debate on wolfsbane, and soon enough we have to leave.
The rest of the day passes by quickly, but I can see Jacob and his goons glaring at me wherever I go. This made me reluctant to go anywhere alone, so I made sure to bring Asher or Addy with me anywhere I went.
Asher drove Addy and I to my house. He didn't want us to have to walk, but he knew we needed time alone.
