I felt my eyes tear up at the memories, and decided that I could never tell a wolf what I was.

At school, it was like I could feel the icy stares from Asher’s friends. It seemed like they were talking about me through their mind link. It made me feel as if I was under a microscope.

My skin crawled as Em surveyed me from across the room, and I could tell that something was going to happen today whether I wanted it to or not. It made me shiver in anxiety, I couldn't deal with wolves today.

I tried to disappear out of the room and head to lunch, but Em had other plans. She grabbed my shirt and dragged me outside, away from everyone. She let go of my collar and glared at me.

“Why are you avoiding Asher? I can smell that you're supernatural, even if no one can figure out what kind. He told me that you're gay, so what the hell is the problem?” she asks.

“Look I told Asher yesterday, I can't tell you so fuck off.” I went to go back inside, but she just grabbed the sleeve of my shirt.

“I know we aren't friends, but I have some advice, tell him whatever's going on.” she told me.

“Well you were right about one thing,” I scowled at her, “we aren't friends.” I stormed back inside the school.

I proceeded through the rest of the classes in a sort of daze, and almost forgot to go to detention after last period. What I did not realize, was the surprise awaiting me when I walked in.

I went into room 102, Mr. Lan's room, prepared for another long hour, but was taken aback by the sight before me. Asher sat in the room, gazing out the window but his head snapped towards me as soon as I walked in. He smirked at me while Mr. Lan left and locked the room. Technically we weren't supposed to talk during detention, and were supposed to work, but somehow I felt that option was trashed the moment I saw him.

“What are you doing here?” I mumbled tiredly. I walked over to my regular seat, and he came over and sat at the desk adjoining with mine.

“I got in trouble.” he said in an obvious tone.

“Why on this particular day?” I countered.

“Felt like having fun.” he responded, not paying much attention to me.

I took to ignoring him, and quickly finished my homework before I grabbed my sketchbook out of my back and started drawing. I drew a tiger in captivity, a battered broken one that was taking a sip of water out of a bowl. It wasn't really good or detailed, but Asher decided to comment on it.

“That's a good drawing. I didn't know you were an artist.”

I shrugged, “To be honest it isn’t that great, the lines could be cleaner and it isn’t really proportional.” I said, before shutting up and glaring at him. I went back to ignoring him, and he decided to just watch me like a creep. I tried to clean up the rough sketch, but I decided it was pointless and switched to a clean sheet of paper.

“Why do you hate me?” Asher asks quietly.

“I don't.” I whisper silently.

“Why else would you avoid me?” he asks. I look at him, and his green eyes looked so alluring. I couldn't help it, and Cole urged me on as I leaned forward. I placed a very soft kiss on his lips, more of a peck of a kiss to be honest.

Asher looked bewildered, and honestly I couldn't blame him. I'd been ignoring him for a week and a half, and I just kissed him. Oh my god, I kissed him.

“Look just reject me, don't lead me on.” Asher pleaded, his voice laced with emotion.

“I don't want to reject you though. I'm sorry I've been so cold towards you, I'm just scared.” I tell him truthfully.

“Warren, we can go as slow or as fast as you'd like us to. That's not an issue for me.” he tells me.

I slowly nod my head, I decided that I couldn't keep ignoring him. I still wouldn't tell him what I am, but I can't forsake him anymore. “Saturday, pick me up at four.” I quickly scribble onto a piece of paper, “Here's my number.” A minute afterwards, Mr. Lan came back and let us out saying that detention was over. I scurried out of the room and quickly made my way home.

“I'm home.” I call out while shutting the door.

“Oh, good, what do you want for dinner; spaghetti or fish sticks?” she asks from the kitchen. I go in, and smile at Maxwell who was begging for food.

“Fish sticks sound good. Do you want help getting everything in the oven?” I ask.

“Sure, but if you have homework you should probably go ahead and do it.”

“I did it in detention, which I only have a couple more days of, well three since today's Tuesday.”

“When I was your age I would've just messed with my friends that were in detention with me.”

“Eh, it was just me and another guy.” I say. “Is it okay if I go out Saturday? I have a date.” I ask shaking off my nerves.

“Ooo, are they cute?” she teases.

“Yeah he's gorgeous.” I mutter while my cheeks tint the slightest pink.

“You can go of course, but I'd like to meet this kid if it's serious.” she tells me.

“I have a feeling you'll meet him someday.” I respond honestly.

“Motherfucker!” Jenny shouts as I laugh. I was watching her play Resident Evil Biohazard and she was not responding to the jumpscares particularly well. “It's not funny!” she told me while barely containing her laughter.

“You had that coming though! I mean what do you expect going through some effed up bathroom?” I say grinning. I was slowly becoming more and more relaxed around her, and she wasn't trying to become my mom, I could tell she just wanted to look out for me. I appreciated that, that she was just looking out for me and all.
