Addy and I sat in my room, she was holding the kitten. "So I've got a theory." I say.
"Oh?" Addy responds. "On what?" she asks.
"On you, why you're staying and possibly joining the pack." I say ominously.
"What's the theory?" she asks, not a bit nervous.
"You're mated to Alpha Turner." I say confidently.
"How did you figure it out?"
"My detective skills. But, seriously, you're going to be a Luna!" I exclaim.
"Yeah." Addy rubs the back of her neck. "It's complicated. I trust her, I mean she's my mate and I've heard of her before. But I just I'm scared. It's so much at once." she explains.
"I get that, I can't believe you're going to help run a pack." I say incredously.
"It makes sense, I have Beta blood so it'll fit me well. In theory, you know." Addy looked down nervously.
"Hey, you'll do really well. Don't worry about it." I tell her. She was a pretty motherly werewolf, so helping to care for a pack actually made a lot of sense for her.
"Yeah." she sighs, and leans back, her head hanging off the end of the bed. "Either it works or it doesn't, right?"
"It'll work." I say, because I know what kind of person she is. Shs deserves happiness, and her mate will bring her that.
Addy sits up really quickly, and I grab the kitten from her, and set her in my lap. "They told me Brin and Trent are in the pack. They told me about the confrontation. I'm so sorry I wasn't there."
"It's not your fault." I say quietly, not particularly enjoying the topic.
"Yeah, but they're Em's parents. I saw them, and I barely resisted the urge to claw their faces off." Addy growled, making me huff at her. She was scaring the kitten. "Sorry." she mumbles.
"What should we name her?" I ask, trying to change the subject.
Addy narrows her eyes at me, but allows the diversion. "I don't know, maybe like Bast or something?"
"I like it, name her after the Egyptian goddess of cats." I did really like the name, actually.
"She was also the goddess of protection you know." Addy reminds me.
"Yeah." I pause, and decide that I'll tell her before speaking again. "You want to know something weird?" I prompt.
"Obviously." She rolls her eyes.
"So, Cole has like adopted this kitten." I say, running my fingers over her fur softly. "Oh shit, hold her." I say, turning off my alarm. I go to the kitchen to make a bottle for her, before coming back to my room.
"That's kind of weird, here." Addy holds out Bast for me. I hold her gently while she cries as I try to feed her. "Have you taken her to the vet yet?"
"No, but we're going this Friday after school. Anyways, Cole has adopted this kitten like it's his own cub. Any idea why?" I ask.
"Not really, but is it really a bad thing?"
"No." I frown, watching Bast eat. "But I just think it's weird. Am I just overthinking it?"
"Probably. You overthink everything, I mean Ren somethings you just let go. This doesn't feel like a big deal, so maybe worry about other things." Addy says, sharing her wisdom.
After cleaning Bast up, I put the bottle in the sink, intent on cleaning it later. Once I'm back in my room, Addy tells me she should go. "I need to study for math. I haven't gone to school in a while, so I've forgotten, like, everything. I'll see you tomorrow." she says. She told me she wanted to walk home, to think about everything that was happening at the moment.
I laid in bed, Bast curled on my chest. I thought about Asher, and wondered what would happen with us. Would we work out? I mean, I did like him, I was sure of that at this point.
I shook my head, fed up with myself. I put Bast in her box and lay back down.
I decided I'd just go along with whatever happened. He knew a lot about me, more than most people did. I was still wary about his friends, but I would try to get along with them.
I pick up my phone, and see that Asher sent me a goodnight text. I smile to myself, before texting him back.
