7. The best friend I have ever had

Clara was walking in front of them with Toothless walking next to her while Peter and the others walked a few meters behind her.

"You are welcome to walk closer, he wouldn't bite, he is friendly" Clara said and Lucy walked up next to Clara "I didn't get the chance to introduce myself, I am Lucy" she said and Clara looked at her "Hello Lucy, nice to meet you" she said causing Lucy to smile, "I am sorry for what Miraz did to your father" she said "Thanks, he would have killed me too, if I haven't escape" Clara said "Why?" Lucy asked, "Well, I don't think that Miraz like the idea that a girl should be queen, and especially not one like me" Clara said and Lucy looked at her "Miraz didn't like what I want to do, when I got crowned as queen" Clara said, "And what was that?" Lucy asked. 

"My plan was, when I was crowned as queen, I want to bring peace back to Narnia, but some of the Telmarine soldiers didn't like that and especially Miraz didn't like it, so to make sure that he will be king, he killed my father, and when my father died, Caspian's father got crowed as king and he would rule until I have turn 19, but then a few months later, he suddenly died, I know that it was Miraz that killed him, but Caspian don't believe it, not even when Miraz want to kill both of us" Clara said, "Why are you calling the Telmarine by name and not your people?" Peter asked "The Telmarines were never my people, the Narnians are, Aslan has said it himself, and therefore I will help the Narnians get the peace back even if I die trying. But if I die, I die, at least I will go down as one of them" Clara said and Edmund smiled, "So you have also met Aslan?" Lucy asked smiling and Clara nodded "Yes I have, and he is what all the legends have said, is a honor to fight for him" she said.

"So, you are the future queen of Narnia" Edmund said "Well I guess I am, but I will first get crowned when I turned 19, and its fine by me, because it give me four years to prepare myself" Clara said "But since you are the future queen, shouldn't you have guards with you?" Edmund asked a little worried and Clara smiled "I can take care of myself and beside I have Toothless and he will not let anything happen to me" she said and looked at Toothless "Wouldn't you Bud?" she asked, Toothless looked at her and smiled. "I have never seen a friendship like that. How did you get this dragon to like you?" Edmund asked "It's all about trust... I didn't hurt him and he didn't hurt me" Clara said and stroked Toothless' forehead.

Time skip...

After they had walked for a few hours, they sat camp for the night.

Clara was still awake, she was sitting leading against Toothless' stomach who was laying like a C and slept.

"Hey Clara you awake?" a voice whispered, "Yeah" Clara whispered back. Lucy and Susan turned around and looked at her "How did you tame that dragon?" Lucy asked and Clara looked at her, "Well, after I had escaped, I met Aslan and he told me, that I would be testes. After that I found a Night Fury, he had been shot down by the Telmarines" Clara said, "What is a Night Fury?" Lucy asked "A Night Fury is the unholy offspring of lighting and death itself, it is the rarest and one of the intelligent of all the dragons" Clara said. 

"I had read about dragons and how dangerous they were, I thought that my test should proof my bravery, that I would be brave enough to kill a dragon, so I took my sword and was about to kill him, but then he looked at me, and I couldn't, or I wouldn't" Clara said, "Why?" Susan asked. "I wouldn't kill him, because he looked just as scared as I was, when I looked at him, I saw myself, so instead I cut him free, and he flew away, I found him a day later, and I saw that he couldn't fly properly, because he had lost his left tailfin, so I watched him, and I found out that this wasn't a vicious beast, but an intelligent gentle creature whose soul reflected my own, so I stay with him and I won his trust, and ever since that day, we have always been together, now we fly all over Narnia and save dragons" Clara said and took a deep breath "After I have tamed Toothless, I finally found out about that test that Aslan gave me, the test was not about that I would be brave enough to killed a dragon, it was about if I was brave enough to let go of the violence that defines the dragons and be one with the creature" Clara said.

Lucy smiled "I thought that dragon were dangerous and always kill" she said and Clara looked at her "I thought that too, but then I found out the truth about them, that everything we know about them, wasn't true, when they first see you as one of them, can even the dangerous dragons be trained, and when you first have won a dragon's loyalty, there is nothing a dragon wouldn't do for you, I am glad that I didn't killed Toothless, he is the best friend I have ever had" Clara said, put her right hand on Toothless' forehead and stroked her hand back and forward. "Dragons are loyal creatures, if you give them that chance, and someday...Someday you'll realize that you do everything for that dragon, and they'll do everything for you" she said.
