16. Getting ready

Peter, Clara and Caspian walked farther down to the ruins "This is my fight" Caspian said, "We already try that" Peter said still a little bit angry at Caspian for the battle at the castle.

"Listen if there is ever going to peace with the Telmarines, you and Clara have to be the one that bring it" he said "How can we, if you wouldn't let us" Clara said "Not like this" Peter said, "If I don't make it, Narnia's future is in your hands" Peter said "And what about your future?" Clara asked. "I was thinking about a career in medicine" Peter said "Don't worry, you will survive, because you are a much better fighter than Miraz, I know that" Clara said and Peter smiled before they walked into a room.

Peter saw that his armor was laying ready for him on a stone while Trumpkin, Reep and Riley was standing in the room, Trumpkin gave Peter his helmet "Your Majestic" Riley said "Yes" Peter said and looked at him "According to the traditions, you must choose your marshal" Riley said, "He is right, you must choose your seconds" Clara said and Peter looked at her "Sire my life is forever at your command, but I have thought that maybe I might take on these challenges" Reep said and Peter looked at Reep "As you may know my good Reepicheep, many humans are afraid of mice. It would not be fair if Miraz could see anything that could make his courage fall" Peter said, "Of course, Your Majesty is a venerable man" Reep said and Peter smiled, before he looked at Clara "Clara, I want you, Ed and..." Peter said but was cut off by Riley "Please your Majesty" Riley said and Peter looked at him "I promise not to do something stupid, but I knew that my brother always wanted to see a match like that, and I think that if I see it, he see it too" Riley said and Peter looked at Clara, "Don't worry, you can trust him" she said, Peter nodded and then he looked at Riley "It is your right and my honor" Peter said and Riley nodded "Are you sure you are ready for this?" Peter asked, looking at Riley still doubting about what Riley will do, now that his brother have just got killed by the Telmarines. 

"Are you sure you are?" Caspian asked and Peter looked at him.

Clara walked over to Riley, "Riley, are you sure that you want this?" she asked him, Riley looked at her and nodded "You saved my brother and I from the Telmarines, you gave us more time together, and because of that I am forever in your debt, you are my queen and my friend, I will followed your commands, I will followed you to the end of the world, and I will even die for you... So yeah, I am ready" Riley said and Clara sat down on her knees in front of him "You are my friend too, and I will do my best to protect my people and my friends, even giving my own life" Clara said before she hugged him.

Time skip...

Edmund came into a room where Clara and Toothless was "Shouldn't you get ready?" she asked and Edmund nodded "Yeah, there is just something I wanted you to know" he said and walked closer to her "If we lose this fight, I want you to know something..." Edmund said, but Clara cut him off by putting her finger up in front of his mouth, "We are not going to lose and we will both make it, so let's both keep ourself alive and then you can tell me, but now is not the time" Clara said, Edmund smiled with a nod and walked out the room.

Clara put her hair up in a ponytail and put her sword on her back, she then took a deep breath. "This is it" she said. 

She walked out of the room, Toothless wanted to followed her but Clara turned around "Toothless, you need to stay here Bud, you need to rest, I don't think you can be in this battle" Clara said, Toothless looked at her and lay down, Clara smiled turned around and walked out the room.

On her way out a hand grabbed her left arm and she turned around to see Caspian "What are you doing?" he asked "I am going to that place where Peter and Miraz will fight. I was one of the people to be there, remember" Clara said  "But you a not a fighter" Caspian said, "No I am not, like I said, I am a Narnian, a warrior and a dragon rider" Clara said and turned around "Still angry at me, for that night?" Caspian asked and Clara stopped "What do you think" she said and walked away.
