10. Get close to a dragon

Edmund enter the room where Clara was "So, I am ready to fly on a dragon for the first time" he said as he walked over to Toothless.

Toothless lifted his head and looked at him, he saw as Edmund came walking towards to him, Toothless got up and growling at him, he opened his mouth and was ready to shoot him, but then Clara jumped in front of Edmund and looked Toothless "Easy Bud, stop" she said and Toothless closed his mouth.

Clara looked at Edmund. "You can never walk over to a dragon like that, never judge someone on their looks. Toothless may look cut and friendly, but there is a reason that he is one of the most strongest of all the dragons. He doesn't like strangers and especially not humans, they are the reason that he can't fly properly and the reason his kind is wipe out, it took a long time for me to really win his trust. But I think that most of the reason that I won his trust was because I didn't kill or hurt him when I could" she said and Edmund looked at her "How can I ride him, if he don't let me get close?" he asked "Well, that's why I will learn how to get near him" Clara said.

Clara grabbed Edmund's right arm, when she touched his hand, her body became warm and her heart beat faster. 

She stretched the hand towards Toothless "First lesson, let him come to you, most dragon think that all humans are evil, and that is why they stay away from us" Clara said, before she let go of Edmund's hand and took some steps back.

"Clean our mind, be patient, and don't be afraid or angry, dragons are intelligent creature, they can feel if you are upset, angry, afraid or impatient. So, the more impatient you are, the longer it takes. Close your eyes and turn your head" Clara said. Edmund did what she said and closed his eyes as he turned his head.

Toothless looked at him, and walked closer to him, he sniffed to his hand, and then he took his head towards the hand causing Clara to smile.

Edmund opened his eyes and looked at Toothless, the dragon had his eyes closed and his forehead on Edmund's palm. 

Toothless opened his eyes and looked at Edmund.

"Good, very good, you have won his trust" Clara said "So, that means I can train any dragons now?" he asked with a smile. 

"No, you are far from it" she said and Edmund looked at her "It was easy for you to win Toothless' trust, because he was already tame, but imagine a bigger dragon than Toothless, coming towards you, it won't help if you just stretched your hand towards it, if you do that, you will probably lose the hand. There is a lot more to do, but it will take days to learn how to get close to a dragon, and weeks to learn about each kind, their strengths and weaknesses, and we don't have that much time, now let's get ready to battle" Clara said and walked over to a big stone where some stuff were.

Edmund walked over to her "What are you doing?" he asked "I am making a new tailfin to Toothless" Clara said, "Does he already have a tailfin?" Edmund asked, "Yes he have, but not a solo tailfin" she said causing Edmund to look confused on her "Without me Toothless can't fly properly, so I am making a tailfin, so he can fly without me" Clara said, "Why?" Edmund asked "This will be Toothless and I first real and big battle, you never know what will happen, if I now jump or fall down from his back, he should still be able to fly. A dragon on land is weak and can get killed easier than a dragon up in the air. Without wings or tail, a dragon can't fly, and if it can't fly, it can't get away. So I was thinking when or if I am not on his back, he would fly on without me and without be force to land and therefore become an easy target" Clara said, Edmund smiled and looked her. 

Toothless walked over to Edmund so his head was at Edmund's left hand, Edmund smiled and pet Toothless on his head. 

"He likes you" she said. "Yeah, well we both care about the same person" Edmund said. Clara turned around and looked at Edmund, Toothless walked over and stood behind Clara, and with his head he push her towards Edmund, so their lips was few centimeters from each other, they both looked at each other, Clara could feel her heart beat fast and her body became warm, Edmund smiled to her, but then Clara took some steps back "Well, we better get ready, the sundown will be here soon" she said and turned around and start working on the tailfin.

Edmund smiled before he walked out the room. 

Clara turned around and watched as Edmund walked out the room, Toothless walked over to Clara and stood on her left side, they both looked at Edmund.

Toothless then looked at her causing Clara to look at him "What are you looking at?" she asked and Toothless looked away.

Edmund and Clara like each other and Toothless could see that, he may be a dragon, but he is an intelligent dragon and Clara's best friend, he could therefore see it.
