"Well he can't help it can he? Sometimes feelings came so unexpectedly."

Just as expected, Mr. and Mrs. Kinley cannot attend the gathering in the Potter household. Elizabeth came with her grandfather, and she was well prepared. The household were full of people from the Ministry, and even the Minister of Magic herself. Occasionally you could see the friendly neighborhood face, and a lot more of family friends.

Elizabeth are in the corner with the other neighbors, listening in on a conversation she didn't quite understand. "Let's get out of here" said James to her ear as she jumped a little from the sudden voice. "Teddy isn't coming and I'm afraid I will bore myself to death"

They walked outside to the backyard, the moon shining brightly on the sky. "Do you reckon I'll be a prefect someday, James?" asked Elizabeth as she lay down on the grass besides James.

"Most likely" said James, closing his eyes. "That'll be nice. You prefect, me Captain of the best Quidditch team in Hogwarts."

Elizabeth looked over to her side. Her red face is clearly visible even with the dim moonlight, though James is still closing his eyes, not aware of the situation.

"It's so weird, right James?" asked Elizabeth as she remembers all the times they played in the backyard, "How we became friends. I'm not even in Gryffindor."

"Well, you don't have to be in Gryffindor to be my friend. I'm not a prick." said James, "Ravenclaw and Gryffindor does go well. Intelligence and Bravery, sounds like Hermione Granger."

"I'm not in Gryffindor and I don't play Quidditch." said Elizabeth, laughing.

"You're right, we shouldn't be friends at all!" said James as he lets out a chuckle.

"Do you fancy anyone, Liz?" asked James, so suddenly. Elizabeth's face became even redder, if that's possible.

"Why? Do you?" asked Elizabeth as she refused to answer the question. "We're too young for that, James."

James opened his eyes and shrugs, "I know that, and I've never really thought about it either."

If this happens last year, Elizabeth would've been over the moon. But he decided to bring it up this year, the year where he is more than an acquaintance to Miraline Lynch. Elizabeth couldn't help but feel paranoid at the thought.

"Is there someone on your mind?" She asked, and James appears to be thinking.

"I dunno, not in particular." said James and Elizabeth lets out a sigh of relief.

"A lot of girls fancies you" said Elizabeth, "I suppose It wouldn't be too hard to find someone to fancy." James screwed his face, and Elizabeth lets out a chuckle. "Like Teddy Lupin. I thought he didn't do girls and all that, and look at him now. I was quiet surprised when you said he was snogging Victoire at the start of the year. He seems to quiet like Victoire, don't you think? Is that why they're not here?"

"I would be mad if that's the case." James folded his arms, "Girls, is the end I tell you! What if Teddy  lost his fun and became really boring. And all that just because he fancies Victoire! What a load of bollocks! We were supposed to put something on the drinks tonight, but I guess he forgot about it and decided snogging Victoire is lot better than having a laugh."

"Well he can't help it can he? Sometimes feelings came so unexpectedly." She shrugs,

James didn't answer, he just looked up to the sky and muttered 'Unexpectedly?'.

"James! Jason's here!" The voice of a little girl broke the silence. Lily seems to be peeking through the dark, but not willing to walk outside. "James?"

"Coming!"

That night Elizabeth replayed the whole conversation in her mind. Thinking about what she should've said. is it possible that James fancy someone? Or he just wants to? It wouldn't cross his mind if he hadn't been thinking about it.

It wouldn't be the end of the world if he fancies a girl, and it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if he fancies her. He said she was pretty loads of times, and that could mean something. But there is always that possibility of another girl. A Gryffindor perhaps, or a Quidditch player, or a Gryffindor Quidditch player. But she remembered him saying houses doesn't matter, but does it really?

She should've said something about it. Maybe push him to tell the truth.

Because when Christmas ends, he may not be hers again.
