Chapter 10

"One........ two.......... THREE!"

The group all jumped back, taking the association of men by surprise.

"Men, at the ready. Don't be afraid to shoot the damn things," the head leader said.

The group of friends all looked at each other. Markus spoke out loud this time, so that everyone could here.

"Now."

With that, all of the "kids" jumped up in the air, and one by one took out someone. First it was the twins, both of them using bats made out of smoke to knock out two of the soldiers.

Colin used black tendrils of smoke to pick up two of the soldiers and more or less shove them into each other. The soldiers began to look afraid, but that doesn't mean the kids held back against the opposing forces.

Jake jumped up in the air and thrusted his arms at three of the soldiers, which sent lightning bolts straight at them. The soldiers tried running, but unluckily for them, the bolts caught them and sent them flying and they hit against a wall, being knocked out.

Stella, although nervous to do it in front of the group, look the soldiers straight in the eyes and held up her hands straight at them, causing vines to break through the concrete and pin a soldier to a concrete wall. She then hit the ground with her fist, causing the ground to shake. different pieces of the ground ended up throwing 2 extra soldiers high into the air.

Nick then used his abilities to take out 2 soldiers by flooding the entire area besides around his friends. The water carried two soldiers away and across the city. There was only one person to take down. The boss of the other soldiers. 

Isabelle jumped and flew as high as she could, and hovered where she was. She was about to send flames his way, then all of the sudden, she heard something. 

A gun shot.

Then, a sharp pain in her stomach.

Isabelle looked down, and there, right in her stomach, a bloody spot. He shot her. 

Isabelle began to fall through the sky, unable to hold herself in the air.

"IZZY! NO!" she heard Nick say.

Nick caught her through the air, letting her down on the ground.

The rest of the friends went into overdrive.

Colin threw him up into the air. Jake shocked him.  Markus flew up and threw the man to the ground. Stella then caught him with vines and pinned him to the ground.

"Izzy, Izzy, please stay here!" Nick told her.

"Nick, move, I can help her," Markus pushed him out of the way.

Isabelle noticed there was a new face in front of her.

"Markus?" Isabelle said towards him.

"What? What Isabelle?" Markus said, worried.

"Am I going to die?"

"No, no, don't say that Isabelle. You're not going to die. I'm going to heal you."

"Promise me?" Isabelle asked, hopeful.

"I  promise. But, when I do  heal you. It's going to hurt," Markus told her.

"Okay," Isabelle told him, still woozy.

Markus held his hand over Isabelle's wound, and a warm golden light came out of his hand. Except, it didn't feel as good as it looked. 

Isabelle screamed in pain, the little sting turning into what felt like a fire inside of her. Nick tried to run for her, to stop Markus from hurting her, but the twins held him back.

"STOP! STOP! YOU'RE HURTING HER! PLEASE! Please........ please," Nick gave up as the twins still held him.

Then, Isabelle stopped screaming. 

"There. She's healed," Markus told the group. But Nick wasn't done with him.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING?" Nick screamed at him. "YOU HURT HER! YOU PUT HER IN SO MUCH PAIN SHE WAS SCREAMING!"

Markus was unusually calm. "Nick, I had to heal her. She would've bled to death if I hadn't."

"YOU COULDN'T HAVE JUST TAKEN HER TO THE HOSPITAL? YOU HAD TO TORTURE HER SO MUCH THAT NOW SHE'S PASSED OUT?"

Markus got angrier by the moment. "Are you brain dead or something? If we would've brought her to the hospital we would've had to explain why she got shot! We would all be arrested!"

"WHY? WHY WOULD WE BE ARRESTED? WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG!"

"ARE YOU THAT FUCKING STUPID, NICK? LOOK AROUND YOU! THERE ARE KNOCKED OUT SOLDIERS EVERYWHERE! WE ARE BEING HUNTED!"

Nick then went at Markus, and Markus reacted. They both fought, but the twins held off Nick, while Stella and Colin calmed down Markus.

At that point, Jake woke up Isabelle.

Isabelle was still a little confused.

"They got in a fight?" Isabelle asked.

"Yeah. Nick got angry at Markus because he hurt you when he was trying to heal you."

Nick noticed that Isabelle was up. 

"Izzy! Thank god," Nick said as he hugged her.

"Ouch!" Isabelle said as she got hugged. "Still got shot, Nick."

"Oh, right. Sorry," Nick said with a little chuckle.

"Where is Markus?" Isabelle asked.

"Over by Colin and Stella," Nick said with his head down.

"I'm gonna go and talk to them," Isabelle told Nick. She walked over to Markus, and as soon as Markus saw her, he stood and and started apologizing.

"Isabelle, I'm so so sorry for doing that to you. I-"

"Dude, if it wasn't for you, I'd be dead right now."

"Really? Y-you........... forgive me?"

"Yeah."

Markus hugged Isabelle, as a thanks for forgiving him.

With that, the group decided to head home, and talk about what they would do next. Markus apologized to Nick, and Nick did the same to Markus. They all knew that what just happened would probably not be the end of their adventure.
