Chapter 36

We went to lunch together as a family and I found myself having fun for the first time in a while. Dad went to pay the bill and mom went to the bathroom and I looked at Tyler

"You told them about the tapes?"

"Yeah I thought we agreed to tell the truth."

"You didn't tell them about Bryce did you?"

"No but I wanted to so badly you have no idea."

"It's not your business to tell, I need to do this on my own time."

"When!? The longer you wait the worse it's going to be."

"Shut up! Today has been draining enough to I don't need this from you right now."

"I'm sorry, I just want to help."

"I get that just stop pushing ."I told him

We made it home and I flopped onto my bed, and texted Zach telling him how today went, his was tomorrow morning

I walked in cool it's Tyler and Kyle following me like two lost puppies, it was sweet what they were trying to do but let be honest Tyler and Kyle combined barely weigh over two hundred pounds.

"Are you going to be ok?" Tyler asked me

"I've been surviving so far."

"We got your back Perri" Kyle said and I looked over to Tyler

"Give us a second Kyle." I said pulling Tyler away

"Did you tell him?"

"What?"

"Don't bullshit me Tyler did you tell him about me?"

"No, no of course not...but I did tell him about the tapes."

'"Tyler I swear to god if you tell anyone else-"

"I'm not ok but we agreed to tell the truth."

"So let people tell their truth, we didn't agree for you to speak for all of us."

"Do you really think Marcus and Courtney or even Zach is going to tell the truth?"

"Actually yes I do, but you need to remember there are two sides to every story, the tapes are just Hannah's" I told him then I walked to my locker

"Hey." I looked up to see Monty.

"When did you get back?" I asked him

"Today, under the conditions that I start going to anger management."

"I think that will help you a lot, what did your dad say?"

"Same fucking bullshit, I need to get my shit together or he's going to put me out and of course a couple of bruises no big thing."

"That is a big thing Monty and you should see about getting some help."

"I'm good Bryce let me crash for a couple of days." He said making me roll my eyes

"Of course he did," I said then slammed my locker and walked away

"Wait Perri." He said grabbing my wrist

"Don't touch me." I said pulling away from him

"What's the problem?"

"Let me ask you something. If I decided to go to the police about Bryce would you back me up?"

"What?" He asked with a laugh

"If I asked you to come to the police station with me would you do it? If it meant losing Bryce as your friend." I asked he didn't answer

"That's all I need to know, just leave me alone Monty."

"Welcome back Monty!" Ii turned to see Bryce wrapping an arm around him as they crowed around him. It took a lot for me to make it through the day, I just kept seeing Bryce everywhere and t scared the shit out of me. I don't know how much more of this I can take. After school I was walking into the gym for practice when Coach Daniels stopped me

"We need to talk Perri." She said and I nodded

"What's up?"

"I don't I don't really know how to say this but I think you should step down as captain." She said

"Wait what? Why?"

"Look between you and me I know about Sheri's situation, and you've been distracted to say the least."

"I've been trying my best, there's just a lot going on for me right now."

"And I get that Perri but don't you think this team deserves a devoted captain? We got sectionals coming up and I've going to need a lot more out of you but I just don't think you can't deliver."

"I'm fine." I said going into the gym but she stopped me

"The squad already voted Chloe is the new acting captain." She said and I looked past her to see the girls watching us Chloe at the center with a smug smile on her face

"Whatever I quit." I said then left the gym

"Perri wait this team still needs you, you're one of our best dancers and gymnasts."

"Fuck you and this team."
