Chapter 41

I gave Monty some aspirin, then sent him into my room. My parents got home around ten, I made a little small talk with them then. I told them I was going to bed, I walked into my room and locked the door. Then I looked at Monty who was looking at my pictures on the wall

"You look hot in this one." He smirked holding up a picture of Kat and I at the beach

"Shut up."

"How is Kat?

"She's doing fine." I told him he nodded

"We should go to sleep, I don't want to risk my parents hearing us." I told him and he turned to me

"Thanks again Perri."

"Anytime

I woke Monty up early the next morning so I could sneak him out.

"If you need to come back tonight text me." I said giving him a couple of granola bars

"Alright cool, thanks P."

"Just stay safe." I said he kissed my cheek

"I'll see you later." He said then I let him out the front door, I walked back to my room I looked at the clock I had another hour before I had to get ready for school so I decided to go for a run.

Once I made it back home my mom was in the kitchen

"Hey your up early."

"Yeah.." I said grabbing a bottle of water

"How was your run?"

"Good, cleared my head."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"It's nothing mom." I said then my phone buzzed it was a text from Zach

'can we talk before school?'

'Yeah pick me up in a bit.'

"Zach's picking me up so I'm gonna go get ready."

I showered and changed then I sat and ate breakfast with my parents. Then Zach texted saying he was outside

"Hey handsome." I said kissing him once I got in his car but he didn't kiss me back

"What's wrong?"

"Everything is just shit right now and it's going to get a lot worse."

"What is it? Is Alex ok?"

"He's still out, they don't know if he gonna come back."

"He's going to pull through, he has too." I said rubbing his back

"And this shit with the Baker it's going to trial?"

"Yeah.." I said not really knowing where he was going with this

"My mom says they might call us to the stand."

"Yeah more than likely, but we told everything in our depositions." I said he sighed then laid his head on the wheel

"I need to tell you something."

"Zach look at me." He looked up at me I could see sadness on his face but there was something else I couldn't put my finger on

"Talk to me."

"Perri you know I love you more than anything."

"What is it Zach?" I said as a bad feeling settled in my stomach

"This summer while you were in New York... Hannah and I hooked up." He said and. I looked away from him I felt tears falling down my face

"What do you mean hooked up?" I asked hoping they didn't go all the way

"Perri-"

"I need to hear you say it."

"We had sex Perri."

"Perri I'm sorry."

"You promised me no more secrets."

"That's why I'm telling you this now."

"No you're telling me this because we're going to trial and you think it might be brought up on the stand."

"I fucked up, I'm sorry.' He grabbed my hand but I snatched away from him

"Don't touch me! I-I can't do this anymore Zach."

"Perri please don't do this."

"You said you wouldn't hurt me anymore... Why her?" I asked but got no answer
