"That boy is so dead," seethes Jae as she slams her hands on the table before taking her seat.

Kwan was so used to the random outbursts that she didn't flinch, though some of her classmates were looking at Jae, who was obviously fuming about something.

"What is it this time?" Kwan asks, eyes still on her book.

"I was missing my Geometry notebook and I was in a rush, when Jin had to crack a joke in my frazzled state."

Kwan's interest was sparked, leaving the book as she stared at Jae.

"Why? What did he say?"

She didn't notice that she's unknowingly waiting for the joke.

"I asked him if he saw it anywhere, but then he said 'what's the difference between ignorance and apathy?'"

She scowls more at the memory. Kwan was hanging on to every word.

"Before I could say anything he said 'I don't know and I don't care' and I nearly strangled him."

Her fingers twitched, and Kwan was worried that Jae might really kill the boy.

But she found the hilarity in the joke, and she covered her mouth to muffle her amusement.

Too bad Jae had sharp hearing, and her eyes narrow at seeing Kwan laughing at her predicament.

"Yahh are you actually laughing at my predicament?" But she did note the sudden smile, since Kwan was one who kept emotions to herself. She was a little happy that Kwan found reason to laugh, but at her problem?

Kwan shakes her head. When she removed her hand she was composed. Jae missed the smile already. But focus!

"I found the joke funny."

Jae's eyes nearly popped out of her skull. She never imagined that one day Kwan would find something funny. Was this heaven?

Someone help her this is a dream.

"Waeyo?"

Huh?

"What is it?" Jae asks.

Kwan's brows were frowning. "Can't I find anything funny?"

"No no it's just surprising to hear you say that you found something funny, for the long time we know each other." But then her eyes narrowed. "So you're not laughing at me?"

At this Kwan denies with a smile. "No. I just get the joke, that's all."

"Ahh."

They smile at each other.
