"So"
"So?"
"We ever gone finish our conversation from earlier?"
"...I don't know"
Kaid and Noonie sat awkwardly on the way to the Foster home as they talked to one another, coming to the reality that was the next day. Kaid being Kaid had to ask if they'd ever finish their conversation, he hoped they would, he needed closure almost as much as Noonie did.
The only difference was he wasn't running from it.
"I'll take that as a maybe" Kaid sighed, rolling his window down just a little since Noonie had the Air conditioning blasting on his face.
"The air is on" Noonie muttered rolling his window up from her side of the car.
"It's cold"
"Then say that" She rolled her eyes, twisting the air off and continuing to drive with an annoyed look on her face.
"So you mad now cause I asked about something we both know is important?" Kaid asked while squinting his eyes at Noonie. He didn't understand why she was so angry, it'd been a while since what happened, happened and Kaid wanted to know why he was in the blame in her eyes.
"Because you keep asking the same shit!" Noonie raised her voice.
"I asked you one time" Kaid replied. His voice was still smooth and calm.
"Whatever you know what I mean. Have you ever thought I wasn't ready to have that conversation with you?"
"Have you ever thought that I need this conversation with you?"
"You?" Noonie asked pulling up to a home that stretched a little farther than normal. "You don't need shit. You have everything Kaid, a girl, money, friends, and I bet you still fuckin' with drugs, you don't need anything"
"What does what I do for a living have to do with what I need up here?" Kaid pressed a finger on his temple, mushing it in a little harder than intended.
Noonie was silent, her face was hot and her throat was starting to burn with anger.
"It has everything to do with up there Kaid" She continued.
"Oh yeah? How's that?"
"You're heartless. You don't care about nobody but your damn self...wish you would've taken your ragged ass home" She snapped getting out of the car and slamming the door on the way out.
Kaid watched as Noonie stomped up to the front door, her clipboard in hand and her red weaved swinging down her back. He didn't know how he felt about her words and he didn't care. Kaid knew what he was, at least he thought he knew.
As soon as Noonie disappeared into the house, Kaid pulled a blunt out of his pocket, searching her car for a lighter. When he found one, Kaid stepped out of the car and traveled to the back of the Foster home where a couple of children played in the back.
He studied the kids a bit. Wondering what his would've looked like if he lived and what he would be doing right now.
"I don't know, I don't feel right" Noonie complained as the two sat in the car after dinner. Noonie's stomach had been aching and hurting all day, her son had been lying on the right side of her belly all day with no movement but she felt as if he'd been kicking her for hours.
