As I wake up in the morning, I realize that today is my first day of 7th grade and my second year at Miami Beach Prep Academy. I've made a good amount of friends last year but I'm still adjusting to the school and getting to know all of my peers, because our class has about 45 kids.
As I walk in to my classroom I see familiar faces and some that I've never seen before. I sit with my friends, Amelia and Christiana and we catch up on each other and our summer vacation. To me the first day of school is just a day to get to socialize with your friends and get to know your teachers, the second day is when reality kicks in. As we are all having social time our teacher Ms.Aurora tells us to collect our belongings and head to the back of the classroom. We all know what this statement means.
"Ugh I hate new seats" I think to myself as all of us squeeze into the small corner of our classroom. Our teachers claim it's a 'distraction' to be with our friends so every year they put us through the fun process of assigned seats.
As they call out names of my peers I finally hear my name called "Crystal go sit in the back table". My teacher Ms.Aurora says as she points to the corner seat. It isn't so bad I have my friend Alexia here but that's pretty much it, I still have an empty seat next to me, though, so I got a chance at someone good.
More and more names are called until a boy named Micheal is told to sit next to me, I don't really know who he is I mean I've seen him around school last year but that's pretty much it. "Hey" he says to me "Hi" I say back in a really low voice. I'm very shy when it comes to talking to new people especially boys but I don't think that he is really going to be a problem for me.....right?
