"Babe wake up" I rub my eyes open from Jonathan's rubbing my arm.

I immediately look over my window. "We're finally here" I say to Jonathan and Julie. I take in the amazing view of New York, and all of the beautiful and tall buildings. My excitement takes over me and I feel like I'm 13 all over again and experiencing New York for the first time.

"You ready to be adults?" Julie says wiggling her eyebrows.

I laugh at her and say "Of course, especially if it means going through adulthood with you." Julie and I are inseparable and have been ever since the day we first met. We spend every weekend together and our parents were full of us. We all eventually knew that we would move in together.

As we get our belongings, we step off the airplane and get our luggage. I immediately see the "Welcome To New York City" sign and my heart skips beats. My dream is finally coming true.

When we finally get out of the airport we see a huge line of traffic with multiple taxis picking people up. See I love NYC but now I'm going to have to live with the pain of its traffic every day.

"We are never going home." Julie tells me as she lets out a big sigh.

"Relax dude, we just got here, if you can't handle this then how do you plan on living here?" Jonathan tells her. Here we go, their usual bickering.

"Can you both relax?" I tell them. Let's just walk outside the airport area and then we'll call an Uber.

"Fine" they both agree in angry tones. I roll my eyes at how they still act like 5-year old's.

After a while of driving, I began to see the beautiful sight of Manhattan. "We have to go to Times Square tonight, I want to sit on the red stairs" I tell them.

"Anything you want babe" Jonathan tells me.

"Yeah anything after I get some sleep" Julie steps in and we all laugh.

Julie and I check in to our new apartment and the manager give us our new keys. The elevator takes years to come so I just go up the stairs, I just can't wait for this moment anymore. When I unlock the door all of the breath in my lungs are taken out of me. The apartment is beautiful and fully furnished with a perfect view of Manhattan.

My thoughts are interrupted when both Julie and Jonathan walk in and say "Holy shit" at the same time.

"Crystal how the hell did you afford this place?" she asks me

"Years of hard work" I smile at her.

"That's my girlfriend ladies and gentlemen" Jonathan smiles at me.

"There's no one in here but us idiot" Julie says and I give her my death stare and look back at the view for the hundredth time.
++++++++

"Are you ready yet?" I impatiently ask Julie.

"Hold on, you woke me up from my nap." She frowns at me

"It's been 4 hours" I tell her, and she laughs as Jonathan comes in and takes me to the living room.

"I have a surprise for you tonight" he tells me as he grabs my waist and pulls me close.

"Noooo, I hate surprises, you know that." I say to him

"Trust me it's going to be worth waiting." "I love you" he says as he kisses me. "Fine" I give in.

When we finally get to Times Square, I rush to the red stairs. They are my absolute favorite place to be, whether it is just to sit and enjoy the view or where all my thoughts pass by me. This time I just look at the busy streets and the bright lights and think of how lucky I am to be living here and going to College in NYU. That's how Julie, Jonathan and I spend an hour on. Just thinking and talking about our plans for the future, after college. They will probably will move back to Miami because if not their parents will kill them if they ever leave them, and same for mine, but I don't know if I could.

"Okay this is great and all but I'm hungry" Julie says, and we all laugh.

"Of course, you are, come on let's go grab a bite at Olive Garden" and with that we all get up and start walking there.

After the waiters take our orders and our drinks arrive I tell John and Julie "So how are you enjoying New York" they only came here once with their parents, but they don't really enjoy walking a lot, which is a something you do a lot especially if you don't have a car. So they didn't get the full experience.

"Yea Crystal, its beautiful thank you for bringing me here, but I'm nervous for NYU" she tells me. I immediately nod my head yes at her. Julie and I are extremely shy and don't do well with meeting new people.

"You two will be fine, I'll be there for the both of you."

"Says the asshole that pretended like he didn't know me in middle school." Julie says.

"She's right" I tell him "Whatever I was young and stupid" he argues back.

"Weren't we all?" I say and with that we spend the rest of our dinner laughing, facetiming our parents to show them the food and view, and just talking about NYU on Monday".

+++++++

"Home sweet home" Julie says, and I see her running to our bed. I laugh at her and before I can walk in the apartment Jonathan grabs me by the wrist and pulls me outside.

"Soo do you remember that I had a surprise for you or?" shoot I completely forgot, tonight was just really fun so I just give him a crooked smile.

He laughs and pulls out a small black box and when he opens it I see a Silver Ring with a red heart engraved on it. My jaw drops "Jonat-"

"No-no let me talk" he insists "Crystal, ever since we met six years ago I knew you were someone really special, and now I'm standing here, with you in New York, lucky enough to be able to call you mine, and I'm giving you this ring, to promise you that I will always love you with everything that I have, and to put your first, above anyone or anything else."

Tears escape from my eyes "I love you" I tell him and we share a kiss.

This first night in New York was just....amazing and I have a feeling the rest will be too.
