Run Away: Kanto

The Thing That Started It All... (Prologue).

A/N-If you notice the large amount of grammatical errors, don't worry. It's intended, especially during a Sans' POV area or when he talks.

Sans' POV.

it's been about three months since the barrier was broken. frisk has been living peacefully with us since then. no ones complaining, we all like her. she's nice to have around. we all mainly live on the surface, on ebbot island, though some monsters like taking holidays back down in the underground. anyways, even though frisk is technically safe, toriel still has made sure i keep my promise - to make sure frisk stays safe. i don't plan on breaking it. we were all out in the wilderness which was the forests around mt. ebbot. we included frisk, toriel, undyne, papyrus and myself. we decided to have some fun today so we were out in the forest. all was going well, we were playing a game of hide and seek. toriel was the person looking for us. frisk and i decided to hide together this round. "10...9...8..." toriel began counting. i grabbed frisk's hand and we ran off to try and find a hiding spot. "2...1...READY OR NOT HERE I COME!" toriel shouted. at that point, frisk and i were still looking for a good hiding spot.

then suddenly we ran into some hostile monsters. all of them were wolves of some sort. these sorts of monsters really only started to show up after the barrier was broken really, when we moved up to the surface. i summoned and charged up one of my gaster blasters and pushed frisk behind me and i told her to run. she began running, but i could tell she was just going to hide somewhere i couldnt see her just to watch the fight. "...BOOM!" the blaster released its charged up energy at the monsters. there was three of them. the two dodged, but the one on the left got hit. he got blasted back and was knocked out. "You smiley trashbag. GIVE US THE KID!" one of the two remaining wolves shouted at me. i summoned bones and began throwing it at the duo. they began to dodge. i didnt notice, but one of them began to slowly inch over to where i suppose frisk was hiding. i didnt notice him slip by until it was almost too late. i caught his movement behind me in the corner of my eyes (sockets?). i quickly sent a barrage of bones at the other wolf to keep it busy. then i teleported in front of frisk. i blasted the incoming wolf away, but i didnt realise it, at the same time i also pushed frisk away, strong and she ended up crashing into a tree.

i suddenly heard sounds of footsteps. the others mustve been coming i realised. the wolves realised this too, so the remaining two wolves scooped up their fainted comrade and made a hasty retreat. i sighed before turning back to the others who had arrived at this point. i was surprised when i was met with a look of pure hatred from toriel and a skeleTON of undynes glowing spears, ready to fire at me. "huh? why are you guys all looking at me like that?" i asked, totally confused. "You...YOU!!!" toriel shouted at me. i took a step back as i realised that she was really mad at me. for some reason. "I thought I could trust you! I asked you to protect the child and look at what you've done! You've HURT HER!!! Why Sans? WHY?!" she ranted. i was still so confused. "huh? what do you mean toriel? i did protect her. from a trio of wolf like monsters who wanted to take her." i explained. suddenly, one of undynes spears launched at me. i quickly dodged out of the way. after all, i only had 1 hp. "Protect her?! Sans from what? I don't see any wolves or anything of the sort!" toriel screamed.

"but...i did. they all just ran away when you guys came," i tried to explain. "and what the heck undyne? are you trying to kill me or something? you know i have 1 hp," i told undyne. she snarled. "Because you deserve to be dead PUNK!" she said exclaiming the last word. i took a step back in shock. "but for what?" i asked. "I told you to protect her! And here is the child, telling me that you were trying to kill her!" toriel screamed. i looked towards the kid with a look of betrayal. "kid...what do you mean? you were right there and saw what happened. whats gotten into you?" i asked. frisk looked at me and declared, "You did try to kill me Sans. Why the heck would you throw me into a tree for?!" i looked at her and realised she genuinely believed that. i released she mustve had amnesia or something like that. i took another step back. "welp. if you really believe thats what happened guys... well... ive already tried to tell you what really happened and you still dont believe me..." i didnt even get to finish that sentence as undyne lost her control completely and hurled all the spears at me at once. my eyes widened slightly, but not noticeable to the others. i panicked and quickly teleported back to papyrus and my house. it was literally like our old one, just it was on the surface.

i realised... i couldnt stay here. i failed my job to protect frisk... and itd take a while to prove that frisk has amnesia. i had to run away, because theyd probably kill me. so i began to pack my small amount of belongings. i got some food, clothes, surface money and put it into my bag. i decided i was going to flee somewhere else on the surface. there i am going to train to become the best of the best. i am going to train hard... to be able to protect my family... i had just finished getting my belongings into my bag when i heard the door downstairs being kicked down, probably undynes doing. "SANS! WHERE ARE YOU?!" i heard. that must have been papyrus. and my heart broke... he sounded genuinely mad at me... that has never happened before. "Where are you, you PUNK! Get down here so I can kill you!" undyne screamed. i then heard a war cry as she came up the stairs towards my bedroom. i realised that this was goodbye. before undyne could open the door, i teleported out of there.

the only thing i left was a note saying, written in perfect sans, "sorry that i failed you all. this is goodbye for now...sans."
