Poem # 88- Exposed

I kept you in a sheltered zone,
Enclosed from the filth outside
From all of my strength, I kept you,
From those thirsty, little flies.

I glanced your perfect skin,
Brown as their dog's hazel eyes
Moist, piquant and winsome—
That I could spread my saccharine jam.

Oh, pleasantries and sweetness—
I licked on the tip of my fingers
Pulling you out from the secured darkness,
Stretching the glistening, sticky pink.

For all I cared is to hold you tightly— safely,
Unhanded you to the cold, linoleum floor
Oh Heavens! Clumsy am I!
It's too late; there went the flies!

I could've grasped you even more,
Yet I didn't
I'm just too busy for my own—
My own sweetness that I shouldn't grant.

I should have extrapolated you a bit more,
Unravel the inner for sometimes I forge
I should have grasped you— remaining it close
It's too late; you have been exposed.
