     "Alright, you two gunna tell me why I had to drive through half the city to get here?" Mrs. Hinkle asked with sarcasm most could only wish for. In front of her was a young couple sitting on a couch opposite to her. They both looked slightly worried and hushed about something at the same time.

     "Well, as you know already, Eva has been, a very, creative, girl." The woman finally spat out. The man just nodded in agreement.

     "You talkin about that one time she imagined the shopping carts were dinosaurs and parkoured through an entire isle of them?" Mrs. Hinkle asked with a quiet chuckle.

     "Well, yesterday it was a little, different...

     Eva had just gotten back home from her third day of school and was feeling a little down. She just wasn't feeling like she was fitting in. Or maybe it was that she was fitting in so well that she was practically invisible, to everyone but Nick. And even he still seemed a bit bummed about her not going out with him. Eva just wasn't the kind of person to want that kind of friend. Especially since they had literally just met. The door slammed after she entered. Mr. and Mrs. Nanchez could already tell she wasn't feeling too good, so they tried cheering her up.

     "Hey Eva! We have dinner already at the table! Why don't you sit down and have a bite?" Mrs. Nanchez said cheerfully from the kitchen. Eva just passed the table entirely and began walking to her room.

     "I'm not hungry." Eva grumbled.

     "What's wrong?" Mrs. and Mr. Nanchez asked. Then they both noticed the bandage tightly wrapped around her right wrist. Just a couple days ago they saw Eva come in with a scratched up fist but she didn't want to talk about it. Now that she had another injury they couldn't help but feel something was going on that Eva never spoke about.

     "Eva. What happened to your arm?" Mr. Nanchez asked. Eva just continued walking down the hallway but she answered crankily;

     "Just a run in with some bullies. Normal school stuff. You should be more worried about the other guy. I just punched at a wrong angle. He got a broken nose." Eva said plainly with the hopes that they wouldn't say anything else.

     "Wait, you punched someone?!" Mrs. Nanchez asked, sounding really worried.

     "What else could I have done? Let them beat me up?! I have to be seen as tough since I am one of the shortest kids in school. I needed to let them know that I wasn't going to be anyone's punching bag." Eva said..

     "Eva, wait!" Mr. Nanchez called out. She just ignored him and continued walking to her room. She walked right up to her door when he yelled again; "Evelyn Maryah Wilson!!" Eva froze at the door. Her left hand squeesed into a fist and shook. It was a habit she got into when she was angry so her anger wouldn't feel overwhelming to her. She slowly turned around with a fixed look on Mr. Nanchez. Even though her fist was shaking she still had an angry face showing. Mr. And Mrs. Nanchez jumped back in horror. To them, it looked like the whites of her eyes were glowing slightly. 'It must have been the lighting.' They both thought.

     "Don't call me that." Eva said in a chillingly low, threatening growl. "Only, my parents called me that." Then she shut her eyes tightly and grabbed her head as if she was in pain. She fell to her knees and looked like she was trying her best not to cry. "Don't cry!" She yelled to herself as she slammed her hands flat on the carpet. She then grabbed her right wrist in pain and continued fighting her emotions. Mr. and Mrs. Nanchez ran over to Eva, worried like they never had been before for her. But before they could reach her, Eva stood up with a plastered on smile and tried to pretend nothing had happened. "I'm fine." She said. Eva then quickly walked over to the table and began eating. Mrs. and Mr. Nanchez sat down too, not really sure what to do next.
