Pale Faces
Vanessa was looking over the water, hanging her legs off the cliff of the other side of the treaty line. Her golden eyes were shining so brightly that it would captivate anyone who looked into them. Her skin sparkles in the sunlight as she looked at the sky while she smiled sadly. "I know you're watching, Alice. I'm fine." She whispered, looking back down at the water, the waves crashing over the jagged rocks. She heard someone step out of the forest line, the girl smirking while rolling her eyes, just in time for the sun to be hidden with a bunch of clouds.
"What could the Jacob Black want with little ole me?" She asked, looking over her shoulder to see the teenage boy smile at her.
"Just popped up on you at the right time. What are you doing over this side of Forks?" He asked, the woman chuckling as she saw him sit next to her. She raised an eyebrow, feeling his body heat over the left side of her body, her ears zoning in on his fast beating heart.
"Just trying to clear my head. I miss my adoptive family." She told him honestly, fiddling with her fingers. "Why are you nervous?" She questioned while she could see a blush rise on his cheeks.
"No reason." He told her, the woman knowing exactly why and placing her head on his shoulder.
"Sure." She muttered, the boy tensing up, feeling the curls of her hair tickle the side of his neck while he looked over her.
"I never knew you were friends with Sam Uley." He told her, the woman nodding her head.
"More like we're family. I'm his cousin." She lied slightly, not wanting to actually explain to Jacob that she's his great great great aunt.
"What? But you're so..." he paused when she quickly got off his shoulder to raise an eyebrow. "Pale." He whispered while she rolled her eyes.
"Not as pale as the others." She muttered, looking over her arm while Jacob chuckled.
"Are you insecure about that?" He teased while pushing her with his elbow while she glared at him.
"Some what." She told him, remembering how tan she used to really be and sighed, never wanting the bite in the first place.
She looked to Jacob and the boy gave her a small smile. "Have you heard from Bella?" He asked, the girl sighing at the sound of the girl's name.
"No, she won't leave the house. I've tried talking to her but she just stares." She told him, crossing her arms over her chest. "It's not like Edward was her whole world, I was part of it." She told him, Jacob catching on to her meaning while he placed his arm over her shoulder to give her a side hug.
