Vanessa looked into Jacobs eyes, the phones ringing echoed in her ears as he walked towards the phone. Jacob picked it up while placing it over his ear and Vanessa listened. "Swan residence." Jacob answered, Vanessa shaking her head while she smiled, and stopped listening while holding Jacob's hand and playing with his fingers.
"He's not here right now. He's arranging a funeral." Jacob said, unknowingly to Vanessa that it was Edward on the phone and the man turned away from his balcony, crushing the cell phone in his hands in anger at the thought of Bella being dead and Vanessa being injured.
Jacob slammed the phone back on the wall as Vanessa furrowed her eyebrows. "Jacob, who was that?" She asked, the boy not giving her a glance as she knew in that moment.
"Always in the way." He muttered while she glared at him, her breathing starting to get heavy.
"It was Edward. Jacob why wouldn't you say that everyone was fine!" She yelled at him, getting closer to him while Jacob pushed her softly.
"Vanessa, step back." He warned.
"Jake, who was on the phone?" Bella asked, walking inside as Alice was by her side.
"Vanessa! It's Edward. He thinks your dead. Rosalie told him why I came here." Alice said as Vanessa was panicking.
"He's not stable. He'll kill himself!" She yelled at Jacob, turning to Alice as the woman grabbed her.
"Why would you..." Bella then looked to Jacob. "Why didn't you let us speak to him?" She asked.
"He didn't ask for either of you." Jacob growled.
"Bella." Alice warned, grabbing her arm as Vanessa was shaking.
"I don't care!" Bella yelled at Jacob.
"Bella. Bella! He's going to the Volturi. He wants to die, too." Alice told her while she grabbed Bella and they got into the car. Vanessa was grabbing her bag and Jacob stopped her.
"He left you, Vanessa. He didn't want you anymore. Remember?" He asked the girl, trying to get her to stay.
"No, I'm not gonna let him kill himself out of guilt." She told him angrily.
"What about Sam?" He asked and Vanessa gave Jacob a look.
"Sam can handle the pack on his own. Don't make me tell him to use his alpha status to make you stay." She threatened.
