Chapter 6
Expressionless. Blank. Nothing.
That was Gavin's face as he stopped in front of me.
Honestly, it scared me.
I knew I was doomed. How can I escape a room full of grown men? I could never, and I would never. I would die. They're going to kill me. I won't see my mother again, or Tristan...
"P-please," I whispered urgently, "I - my mother, she's going to get worried sick. Please. I swear I won't tell anyone, I'll j-just act like I saw n-nothing. Please, please, please."
Any other time, I would have been disgusted with myself for pathetically begging someone like that, but right now, I didn't care. My tears fell with the words, with my fruitless pleads. I didn't want to cry, I didn't want to look weak but I couldn't help it. Please God, I won't ever do anything wrong if you get me out of here...
Gavin stared back at me; emotionless. I briefly noted his jaw clench and his hands turn into fists by his side, but other than that, nothing else.
"Gavin, please hurry," the willowy man that had spoken to me earlier said in a fake sweet tone. It made my skin crawl.
My eyes widened at Gavin as he reached for me. I was scared. I was beyond terrified. I was never going to be okay again. I was going to die.
Gavin grabbed my arm and shoved me in front of him so that he was facing the creepy man that gave him his orders. I think he was the boss.
"Great, now please take her to The Crater. We're going to be there in a while," he paused and stared at the man tied onto the chair, "when we're done."
My eyes almost dropped out of their sockets. Were they actually going to kill the man?!
I watched, paralyzed as the knife came closer to the man's neck. I watched the man look around helplessly, desperately, trying to speak through his muffled mouth. My body trembled that I'm sure anyone within a 5 metre radius would have caught it shaking.
Before I could see anymore, I was yanked roughly away to the door. Gavin pushed me forwards, keeping a tight grip on my arm that it hurt. This time though, I kept the tears in my eyes. I briefly noticed one of those hulky bodyguards follow us.
We didn't go back the way I came here, instead, we went the other way. It was so quiet here, you could probably hear a pin drop. I stumbled, trying to keep pace with Gavin's rough shoving. His grip was hurting me but I refused to let it show.
I was surprised when we stopped in front of another train. It was shorter than ours, rustier and basically looked haunted. Okay, not really haunted. But it looked scary; some of its windows were even shattered.
I was shoved again, till we were in front of the steps that led to the inside of the train. I saw faint, block letters at the side of the train spelling out The Crater.
"You can go now. I've got it," Gavin growled at the bodyguard, who took no action to move.
"Orders," he stated.
"What so they don't trust me now?! I said I've got this," he yelled dangerously. I flinched, but there was nowhere I could go to since he was gripping my arm hard like I even had a chance to escape.
The bodyguard stared at Gavin for a moment before turning around and walking away. My heart rate started to pick up to dangerous levels. I seriously might die of heart attack now. How could they leave me alone with a man! What if...what if he hurt me?
