Chapter 8

"Wake up already!"

My eyes flashed open as something wet trickled down my face. Water.

"What the heck?!" I cried, rubbing my face and glaring daggers at my source of disturbance. Gavin stared back at me, with an irritated look on his face and a bottle of water in his hand.

"What the hell is your problem?!" I said, wiping the water off my face.

"You are my problem! You've been asleep for a century and a half! We're going to stop in fifteen minutes so hurry your ass up unless you want Richard to come and say hello," he hissed darkly. I shuddered when he mentioned Richard and shot right out of bed.

"Fine, fine," I muttered as I hurried into the bathroom.

Had I really been out for so long? Well, I was really tired the past few days. I remembered how Gavin had offered to stay up till I slept. Why does he work with Richard then if he's not that evil? I mean, he's mean and snappy but he has his moments, I guess. Maybe it's all an act. Yes, that's what it is: an act. And I will not fall for it. Never.

My heart started pounding as I walked outside the bathroom. I did not want to see Richard at all. I tried not to think about how far I was from home and how I might never get back, because if I allowed myself to think about all that, I'd break down completely. And I couldn't afford breaking down right now.

"Where are we stopping?" I asked as firmly as I could, once I stepped outside the bathroom.

Gavin gave me a weird look before answering, "Richard's house?"

"How long will I be staying?"

"A while," he snapped back at me. I glared at him.

"What will - "

"Stop asking questions!" he growled at me. So I can't even ask what they're going to do to me? Idiot.

"I'm the one being kidnapped here! I have the right to ask whatever the hell I want to ask!" I yelled, exasperated, raising my arms in the air.

"Just shut up." came his oh so helpful reply.

"Okay then," I answered. He wants me to shut up? Then that's what he will get.

We stayed silent for a long time, me looking out the window and Gavin doing God knows what. I wasn't looking at him; I just stared outside, trying to look for anything that seemed familiar but of course, nothing.

I think it was about twenty minutes later when the train started slowing down. My heart rate spiked the slower the train got. Were they going to kill me now? Or would they wait? Were they going to steal my organs? Were they going to use my body? I shuddered at the thoughts that started unstoppably forming in my head. My hands were shaking and I tried my best to keep them together. I'm sure I looked as pale as paper right now, but I will never give them the satisfaction of seeing me scared.

"Get up," Gavin said, nodding his head towards the door. I stood up and walked to the door and jumped out once it was opened. For a moment, I considered the probability of running away. I probably won't get far, but I could try and at least hide. It was a fairly old and deserted station by the looks of it. No one was here, absolutely no one. Maybe I could hide behind one of the old brick buildings and wait till the coast was clear and find help...
