Chapter 20

"So, what's the plan?" I asked nervously, staring between Ethan and Gavin.

"How did Richard figure out we ran away so fast?" Ethan asked, staring blankly ahead.

"He probably saw it coming," Gavin said with a shrug, and even though he was acting like nothing was happening, I knew he was very tense.

We were silent for a long time after we heard the news, not really knowing what to think. And most definitely what to do.

"Is it safe, here?" I asked, staring at Gavin.

"Yes, even if they knew we were wanted I don't think they'd hand us in," Gavin said.

"Are you relying on the fact that they don't watch the news?" Ethan asked, a disbelieving tone to his voice.

"No," Gavin said quickly, "Well, yes..." he mumbled. Both Ethan and I gave him shocked stares.

"We should go somewhere else then!" I said, standing up quickly.

"Eva, sit down. We're not going anywhere now," Gavin said, a note of finality to his voice that I couldn't argue with.

"But Gavin - we can't just risk it!" I said, trying to make him see this was going to be very sticky if we get caught.

"You're not even wanted - "

"Excuse me?" I asked, crossing my arms and glaring at him. I was part of this too. Hell, I was the reason we were here.

Gavin's eyes widened quickly and he started moving his head quickly in small shakes, "I didn't mean it like that! You are wanted. I want you - No I don't! I mean - Eva!" He cried my name exasperated like he was trying to blame me for the misunderstanding, and I only stared at him more, faking shock.

He looked at me with an adorable shocked expression on his face. He looked mortified and I tried not to laugh, because I knew what he meant but it was fun watching him in discomfort. Finally, I couldn't let it in and I let out a laugh, "It's okay Gavin, I know you want me." I said cheekily, with a sly grin on my face.

Gavin's face turned from shocked to confused to angry, "I don't!"

"Yeah, yeah. Keep telling yourself that," I said, winking at him and for a second, he looked shocked. I didn't know where the sudden confidence boost came from, but I was enjoying it.

"Yeah, Gavin, don't be in denial," Ethan sniggered next to me.

"Shut. Up!" Gavin said, glaring at us.

Ethan and I laughed slightly until we stopped completely and silence spread over the entire room. The silence was deafening.

"We're in trouble, aren't we?" I said after a few minutes.

"You think?" Ethan said.

"Are we going to stay here forever?" I asked, suddenly feeling tired. It was a long day and I think it was time we all rest.

"You know what, I think this conversation could wait till tomorrow. I'm going to bed," Ethan said yawning, and I couldn't agree with him more.

"Me too," I added, getting up.

"I have room in my bed," Ethan said, winking at me.

"Ethan," Gavin said warningly.

"Alright, alright! Why doesn't she share yours then?" he asked, a smirk on his pretty face.

Before Gavin could retort, I quickly said, "You know what, guys? there are two beds and a couch. No one needs to share anything. Now go to bed."

"Okay, mum," Ethan muttered.
