"c'mon, haewon. you can do it." the 14-year-old girl beside haewon said.

"i'm scared, sojung... what if he rejects me?" haewon said.

"it's okay! c'mon, it's our last day here in this school. i'm pretty sure you'll get over it next year when we move to bora high school. and c'mon, aren't you happy that it's summer?" sojung said.

"i know, but-"

"ah, no 'buts'. now c'mon, it's our last and final day in this school. make it worth the wait."

haewon mentally prepared herself. take deep breaths, haewon. you can do it. she said to herself.

she sighed as she walked over to jisoo's friend group. scratch that, the most popular group in her school.

"uh, yes?" jeonghan, one of jisoo's friends, asked haewon as she walked over to them.

"u-uh, may i t-talk to j-jisoo in p-private?" she stammered. aish, haewon! don't stutter... she thought as she mentally facepalmed herself.

"uh, sure..." jisoo said, making haewon's heart beat faster than ever. "be right back, guys."

they walked over to the school entrance. school was over, so most students were already at home, especially because it was the last day of school and they were looking forward to the summer ahead of them.

"hm?" said jisoo.

"uh, i kind of..." she said, her voice trailing off.

"you kind of...? hmm, let me think." jisoo said sarcastically. "oh, you like me?" he said, pretending to be surprised. haewon just nodded and looked at the ground.

jisoo scoffed. "pfft, cliché. i hate cliché, by the way. plus, i'm sure no one will like you anyway. hmm, no one except the dorks." he said then walked away, leaving haewon dumbfounded. "and take note that i don't even know your name."

haewon got home with her head hung low. she felt a stinging pain in her chest as she heard jisoo's voice echoing in her head. i'm sure no one will like you anyway. it kept ringing in her head as she walked up the stairs, ignoring the stares of her family.

she laid down on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. until she heard a knock. "come in." she said with no expression in her voice. the door opened revealing hyungwon, haewon's older brother.

"aw, baby sister, what's wrong?" hyungwon asked. "nothing." she replied.

"c'mon, i know that face. you can tell me anything, y'know. i promise i wont tell anybody else..." hyungwon said. haewon and hyungwon were very close. in fact, they were inseparable. they tell eachother their secrets and just keep it between them. every time they would argue, they would just laugh it off. hyungwon was only a year older yet he acts like a dad to haewon.

"fine." haewon said. she told her brother about the confession, and her brother was very mad.

"tch, that jisoo guy needs to be taught a lesson." hyungwon said while rolling his eyes. "anyway, baby sis, why don't you get some rest?"

"hyungwon-ah, it's 6:30 PM." she said.

"i know." hyungwon said, walking out the room.
