we went shopping the whole day, until it was around 4:30 PM. we were hanging out in a milk tea shop. by the end of our shopping spree, our money was all spent. well spent, maybe not but okay.

i bought a few stuff; stuffed toys, clothes, shoes, a bit of makeup, a necklace, and some matching stuff with wonwoo and sojung. you know, all that girly, usual stuff.

when we were coming back home, wonwoo and sojung had a weird smirk all the way. as we got in the house, i saw that all the lights were off. everything clicked together... they were planning a surprise party!

after a second of stepping in the house, all the lights turned back on. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAEWON!"

i saw my mom, my dad, my brother, my brother's friends, and finally... jisoo, his mom, and his friends...

"thanks, guys!" i said. "mom, i'm one step closer adulthood now!" i said jokingly, making everyone laugh.

"not yet, this is just an early celebration for your birthday." she said.

true, because my real birthday is on monday. i looked around and it seemed like they put a lot on effort in doing this. maybe that's the reason why they asked me to leave so early.

"you didn't have to do this, y'know?" i said.

i opened my presents, and they were really good presents. like clothes, stuffed animals, books, room decor, matching hoodies, etc.

but the thing that caught my eye was jeonghan's gift. i've been telling sojung and wonwoo how i wanted this necklace, but i was too broke to by it. i guess he overheard us, and decided to buy me this necklace.

"wow, thanks guys!" i said as i stared at my presents in awe.

after a few hours of partying, my parents were cleaning up the mess that we made. i tried to help but they said that it was my 'special day' and that i should relax. jisoo's mom was chatting with my mom while cleaning up.

sojung was sleeping over while wonwoo already left. my brother's friends were still there, along with jisoo and his friends. we all gathered up in the living room to watch a movie.

everything was going fine until around 9PM. we were in the middle of watching the movie until,

"haewon-ah!" my mom called. "yeah?" i said from the living room.

"could you get my phone in the basement?" she asked. "i left it there while preparing for your party."

"okay." i said, standing up from my seat. suddenly, i felt a hand grab my wrist. i turned around and was expecting to see jisoo or hyungwon but i saw... jeonghan?

"i'll come with you. i need to tell you something important." he whispered. silently, he got up from his seat and followed me to the basement.

somehow, right before i went down the stairs, my gaze landed on jisoo and saw him shooting daggers with his eyes at us. our eyes met and he immediately looked away. what's his problem?

we went down to the basement, and i started looking for my mom's phone. "what were you going to tell me, jeonghan?" i said while searching for my mother's phone.

"come here." he said, signaling me to come closer to him. suddenly, he pulled me in a tight hug. "you don't know how much you mean to me, haewon."

"jeonghan..." i said, out of words. "do you mean...?"

"yeah, i like you..." he said, pulling away from the hug.

this can't be right. i know jeonghan is an amazing person, but it doesn't feel right. i don't feel the same way, but i don't want to hurt his feelings, he doesn't deserve to be hurt. but if i accept his confession, wouldn't it be like, fake love?

my thoughts were broken when he spoke. "you don't have to feel the same way towards me, i just-"

"no, jeonghan. it's not like that. it's just... maybe i need a little more time. i've only met you like, three months ago.." i said, lying. i know that we've met since like, second grade, but he doesn't have to know that.

"i know you're lying, haewon. i know for a fact that we didn't meet three months ago." he said. what the- is he a mind reader? "but yeah, maybe you just need a little more time. it's okay, haewon."

suddenly, he pulled out something from his back pocket. i couldn't see clearly from the dark of the basement, but it looked like a phone.

"is that my mom's phone?" i asked, chuckling. he nodded and let out a small chuckle. "i saw it when you were looking around the other side." he said.

"wow, you really are a magician." i said. we both laughed and went back up. we went back to watching the movie, and i got to say, he's really good at acting natural. he's watching the movie as if nothing happened.

after a while, the movie ended and eventually, everyone left. i thanked my family for the surprise party before getting ready to go to bed.

however, something has been bothering me; what does jeonghan mean by "i know for a fact that we didn't meet three months ago."?
