Ash's POV.
"Alright, time to start the battle bond test." Luke smiled. "My daughter was really close in accomplishing the test, but then she failed in her sleep the last night. She was so disappointed."
"Who's your daughter?" Ash asked.
"Serena's mentor, Luna," Luke explained. "Anyways, time to start. I want you to bring out Greninja real quick."
I let out Greninja from his PokèBall.
"Here, put these trackers on. They track your bond on this screen here," Luke explained, hitting a button on a remote.
Out of nowhere, a large blue screen appeared in front of us. It was just a hologram.
"This machine was based off of one of Clemont's, the Lumiose City Gym Leader's, inventions," Luke explained. "We don't need to go into the tech. Ready to receive your first mission?"
"Yup." I nodded.
I looked over on the chart. Greninja and my little lines on the hologram graph were right over each other.
"Run around this whole prairie 5 times. Go, now!" Luke ordered, pointing to the exterior of the code Pokèmon.
I nodded, and dashed at the same speed as Greninja. That either meant I was really fast, or Greninja was really slow.
"Greninja, let's pick up the pace." I smiled.
Greninja nodded, and we started running faster.
I looked at Luke, and his face was in shock. Once he saw me looking at me, he smiled.
"Don't worry about my reactions, just keep on running!" Luke yelled.
Luke's POV.
I stared at utter shock and surprise at the bond tracker. Ash and Greninja were almost in perfect sync already. He was about to use battle bond. It was an obvious yes.
How you can tell if someone has battle bond or not is by looking at the screen. If you can't even see each different's person's bond track, they don't have battle bond.
Ash and Greninja were so in sync, it looked like even making it to the top/bottom halves of their screens were impossible. They must be really close.
I watched them run, challenging each other to run even faster. I was also surprised at how fast Ash could run. He's running at at least 10 mph without wearing out. If Ash went into sprint, maybe he could go 13.
"You guys don't have to run anymore!" I yelled, stopping Ash from wasting his energy on the first mission. "It's useless for you to run when your sync hasn't changed at all. That's a good sign, by the way. Usually, when the Greninja and the trainer run, they tend to get out of sync. Congratulations, Ash."
