Walking into first period, I noticed the same boy with the lab coat on seated at a wooden desk. The desks were aligned in rows facing the whiteboard in the center of the front wall. He looked pretty lonely, but I wasn't going to interfere.
"Hey, Serena, let's sit by Gary!" Dawn cheered.
She dashed over to the strange boy in the lab coat. I giggled upon reflex, but it was kind of weird that Dawn was friends with him. I mean, he is wearing a lab coat.
But who am I to judge? It's only a piece of clothing. A weird piece of clothing to wear to school, sure, but still a weird piece of clothing.
"Hi, Dawn, Serena," Gary started, putting his binder on his desk with a large thump. "How're your mornings?"
"Great." I smiled. "I can't sit here, there's only one chair..."
"I'll sit with you, Serena, since you're new. Gary, I saw a new kid earlier today. You guys can become friends," Dawn explained.
Right when we sat down in our seats, the classroom door opened. The practically glowing, raven-haired boy that passed by me earlier today walked into class. Some girls swooned over him, but I quickly faced the professor.
Those girls have no life. Why would they even want to be romantically involved with him? Well, I guess the fact that he's glistening in handsome colors. That's it! You don't even know what he's like! He could be a serial killer! I mean, of course, he's not a serial killer, but seriously!
"Hello, class. Today we're going to be learning about abilities that change some type advantages. We'll mainly be focusing on the ability levitate today. Remember, this is what your unit test is going to be about, abilities and how they change type advantages and disadvantages, so you better pay attention," Professor Oak explained, getting up from his desk. "Before we start, though, we have two new students that moved in over the summer. Ash, why not you introduce yourself first?"
"Okay." The caramel-eyed trainer smiled.
He walked up to the front of the classroom.
"Hello, everyone. My name's Ash, and I want to become a Pokémon master," He explained."Pika pi," The Pikachu on his shoulder nodded in agreement.
"Can't wait to meet you guys," Ash shrugged and walked back to his seat.
"Alright, Serena, do you want to go introduce yourself now?" Oak asked.
"Sure!" I smiled and walked past Ash to go to the front of the room.
"Hi! I'm Serena, I come from Kalos," I started. "I live with a loving family, we're all really close. I met Dawn when I was walking to school today. What else... um, I'm a Pokémon Performer! Yeah, my Braxien, Sylveon, and Pancham love performing!"
"Alright Serena, that's enough," Oak announced.
"Oh, right," I stuttered and walked back to my seat.
"Okay, so, who knows what the ability levitate does?" Professor Oak asked.
I raised my hand immediately. Ash also did. Everyone looked at us with shock. This was supposed to be the top school in all of Pokémon; meanwhile, they're asking us these easy questions.
"Serena?"
"Levitate allows types like electric to levitate off the ground. It allows ground moves, like earthquake, to not hit them. This makes the super effective type useless."
"Correct." Professor Oak smiled. "I'm impressed."
"Levitate can be on more than electric types, though," Ash interrupted.
"Well, of course, I was just using that as an example," I explained.
Ash nodded and started talking to Gary.
Professor Oak started blabbering about the effects of levitate that I already explained. Dawn and I passed around a notebook paper and wrote messages on it when Oak talked.Me: What's our next class?
Dawn: Pokèmon Battling. Since it's the start of the year, the two students who got the highest grade in Pokémon Battling last year will fight against each other. After that, we'll learn about strategies. It's a tradition here.
Me: Sounds fun! So that probably means that Ash guy will battle, huh?
Dawn: I don't know. Paul and Gary are strong battlers, too. If you're confused on who Gary is, we've been friends for about two years.
Me: Okay!
Dawn: I bet Gary's getting closer to Ash.
Me: Yeah, why does it matter?
Dawn: Just thought you'd want to know 😉
Me: Nobody likes a clichè new kid x new kid book, Dawn.
Dawn: Lol, okay.
"Students, get ready to leave your class. You'll be heading to Professor Kukui's Pokèmon Battling class after this. You'll leave in three minutes."
"Actually, why do you think I like him if we haven't even had a fluent conversation yet?" I asked.
"Shhh, not so loud!" Dawn squeaked. "And it's the looks, he's hot."
"You think I'm going to date someone just because he's hot? Girl, get to know them first. They could use the worst manners and have a terrible personality. You wouldn't want to date your crush then, would you?" I replied.
"I wouldn't care," Dawn shrugged.
"Look, Dawn, I don't care if you think I like him or not, but don't start spreading rumors that I do, because I'm saying it right here right now: I don't."
The bell rang, and I dashed out of the classroom as fast as possible. I sprinted to the gym. I was the first person in the classroom. Smirking, I found a place on the bleachers (that were surrounding the whole gym's walls) to sit.
I sat down, telling myself the same thing over and over again once Dawn entered the room:
Please don't make there be a lot of drama this year. Please don't make there be a lot of drama this year. Please don't make there be a lot of drama this year.
