Their mom stopped by but she had an unfamiliar face with her, well unfamiliar to me at least but you can tell she resembles Ms. Gia and Paola. Paola and I went outside to greet them and to help because it seems as if Ms. Gia had things for us!
"Marnie, I'd love for you to meet my mother, Theo and Paola's nonna! Nonna is grandma in Italian!"
My eyes widened as this slightly tall, fair skinned woman stood in front of me. She had green eyes like Theo, black hair like Paola with a jawline and cheek bones of a supermodel. She's gorgeous, I reached my hand out to shake her hand and she shakes her head no while reaching out for me.
"I give hugs, come, come!"
She gave the warmest hug that I've ever received.
"We also have the desserts!" Ms. Gia says while walking to her trunk, she opens it then takes out the first big white box with a gorgeous logo on it.
Caruso's Bakery, wait, this logo looked familiar but updated. This can't be, I turned my body towards the elderly woman then closed my eyes while pointing at her. She nods her head with a smile.
"Marine, Marnie! Little Marnie, I'd never forget your little precious face!" She does a little singing voice with my name like she used to, I used to walk by the bakery and she'd give me things after I left the residing deli near them.
"I'm sorry, my memory hasn't been too good lately.." I apologized and she shook her head.
"It's okay, I heard you have a little princess and I whipped up my specialties!"
"Thank you, I'm sorry, it was last minute and I'd make it but I'm not the greatest baker!" I said and they laughed.
"You're a great cook though!"
"She learned from the best!" Nonna Salveña teased and we laughed.
"She used to watch in the little window in the back of the bakery, she thought I never noticed but I did!" She continued as we carried the things inside, I took a look at the things.
She made cupcakes in the colors of the party and cookies with the same topping but some with different designs. The cake was gorgeous, I remember being young and tasting one of the little cakes from the window. She makes the best treats, no wonder why the bread from the deli tasted so familiar.
"My mom used to tell us about you, the little ragazza!" Ms. Gia mimicked her mom as I smiled.
"Marnie, you're family! No matter what and family is everything!" She continued as I nodded my head.
"And thank you all for letting me and my daughter be apart of it."
"Come here!"
Ms. Gia opens up her arms and gives me a tight hug, I rested my head on her shoulders then cried a bit. She places her hand on my head as Paola rubs my back. This was what a family was supposed to be like, genuine.
We talked about the bakery and caught up on things then it was time to go pick up my princess from school, Paola took the ride with me.
"I cannot wait for her to see the set up, that little faint she does is hilarious! I love that kid!" Paola says while laughing as we waited for Giselle.
"She's something else, we were talking on the boat and I'm telling her we'll go on a real summer vacation this year. She tells me maybe I should go on one alone without her!"
"Shes correct!"
"You would agree with her, I don't have a sitter and where exactly would I go? I don't have a passport! They let me into Vancouver with my ID, I barely made it. My dad won't give me any of the important shit that I need.." I expressed and she frowns a bit.
