Waking the next morning, Si Yin was still not happy with Xin Nu or Shifu for allowing that girl to sit in her place and listen to her music, but seeing as it was a new day and there was plenty of room for improvement, she bounced out of bed with a head full of happy thoughts and a rumbling stomach.
This was how Si Yin was. She rarely held onto grudges once a new day had begun, everything from the day before was quickly forgotten about. It was the main reason why her mother gave her the diary. Her mind was just too flighty which meant she quickly forgot important events in her life including her own mischief.
But this day was an important one, and one she definitely had not forgotten. Today was the Mid Summer Festival, and her Shifu had promised to attend it with her. Excited and haphazardly throwing her gown over her head before slamming her feet into her shoes, she ran for the Dining Hall while still trying to tie her sash with one hand and fix her hair with the other.
Only the moment she arrived in the dining hall, then the sight of Xin Nu sitting in her seat right next to Mo Yuan had the smile on her face disappearing very quickly. Her gown was still untied, only half her hair was up on her head and her eyes were mere slits as she marched towards her place at the table that had been hers since the day she started.
All eyes were on her, and though they were not really surprised to see her entering looking as if she been climbing trees all night, but the anger pouring off her soon had Die Feng on his feet only to be waved back down by Mo Yuan who was shaking his head in disapproval while trying his best to keep the smile at bay considering she was not looking all that pleased.
Of course he knew why, and though he had suggested to Xin Nu that she take the seat already prepared for her beside Si Yins chair, he just didn't have the heart to force the matter, though Si Yin had no such qualms.
"Xin Nu, I know you are new here, but we have certain way of doing things here and some of those things never change. One of those things are our places at this table. You are in my seat, kindly move yourself to this one." she said pulling the chair next to her out, and all with a smile even though her eyes were flashing challengingly at her as if daring her to refuse.
Xin Nu tried not to stare at the unkempt boy beside her, but the way he was looking less that immaculate, only reminded her more and more of her girl cousin, one that this cousin resembled a little too closely. But not mentioning it, she instead shrugged her shoulders as if Si Yin was being far too petty.
"Why does it matter where I sit. It is merely breakfast, I am sure it won't affect your meal Si Yin." she replied with an irritating quirk of mouth, one that Si Yin remembered from when they were younger and hated even then.
Turning to Mo Yuan, Si Yins eyes were close to closing, they had narrowed so much, that Mo Yuan, and even her brothers, knew exactly what was coming next though not one of them, least of all Xi Nu was quick enough to prevent it.
Suddenly and without warning, Si Yin took hold of the back of her chair, and with one hefty pull, her entire chair was toppled backwards, sending Xi Nu flying to the floor squealing while the chair itself was whipped out from behind her and leaving her sprawled flat on the ground in tears.
On his feet, Mo Yuans eyes fired. He had known jealousy among the females in his life many times over the years, and this was exactly what he was seeing, and though he understood what had happened and why, he wasn't altogether sure if the girl behind the disguise truly understood her feelings, because the look of disbelief on her face was all too real. She hadn't truly meant to throw her cousin to the floor, and the way she was now bending over her to assist the now sobbing mess to her feet, had Mo Yuan also bending down to assist, which also had every one of her brothers on their feet and looking at her as if she were crazy.
