Coronation - Chapter 18

I was getting dressed in a simple red dress with a velvet red and white robe, my hair made into a bun on the top of my head. I was escorted by the Military Police to a platform above, what are about to be my new subjects. I stand tall and with much confidence, my eyes narrowed with determination and a new goal, a new life ahead of me. 

A man steps forward, "Titan Queen, Liz Jaeger, do you pledge to take responsibility for the people? The safety of the walls? And to be a just Queen, to all?!" 

I do a salute to the crowd, "I DO!" 

Another man steps forward and places the crown on my head, "I hereby claim you, Titan Queen, Liz Jaeger, Queen of the Walls!" Everyone bowed to the ground beneath me. 

I continue my salute as I step forward to give my speech, I stare down my new subjects who had gotten up, looking through the crowds, staring each person down. I come across some familiar faces in the crowd; Historia. Armin. Hange. Eren. Levi. I look each one directly and then look across the crowd, I smirk, "I guess no one thought this would happen, would they?" My smirk left my face and I went to an emotionless expression that frightened most of the crowd, "To be honest with you all, I never expected this either. I will do my best, as Queen, to keep each and everyone of you safe but you all know who I am. Under my rule, there will be new threats, but we must keep moving! My first order of business that will begin immediately... Survey Corps, next week, Monday morning...we...WE RECLAIM WALL MARIA! LET'S END THIS BATTLE ONCE AND FOR ALL!"

The crowd cheered and applauded. Hange looked at me and nodded, I stared her down and nodded back. Nothing but determination was plastered on my face. I was going to show humanity, just how powerful their new queen could be. I turned around and retreated towards the palace, telling one of the guards to go fetch Commander Hange and Corporal Levi to meet me in my throne room. 

I waited about fifteen minutes before they arrived, "Hello Commander and Corporal, thank you for coming to the coronation today. Seems like we have a lot ahead of us. The new cadets from the Trainee Squadron, the 105th Cadet Group, will be joining us on this expedition, seeing as we need as many soldiers as we can get our hands on." Hange nodded, "Also...I will be accompanying you on this expedition."

Hange stepped forward, "Your Highness, no! You could be severely injured! Then who would be queen!"

"You will not go against my wishes. And do I need to remind you, Hange, that I cannot be killed so easily, and seeing as Eren has barely mastered his titan abilities, I shall train him for the rest of the week until we depart on Monday. Also, don't ever call me 'your highness' again, call me Liz, god dammit." I chuckle. 

"Yeah, sorry Liz! It's just kinda' weird since you're queen now!" Hange laughed and scratched her neck. 

"Yeah yeah, Hange. Anyways, you can go get Eren. He'll be housed here from now on, seeing as he is royalty and so will Historia." Hange nods and walks off. 

My attention goes onto Levi, my eyes narrow and so do his. I sit up straight in my throne, "Levi." 

He stands tall and keeps his gaze on me, "Liz." 

I stare at him still, as I get up and make my way to him. I stand in front of him, looking up to his face since I am shorter. 

I glance around the room and see guards everywhere, "Guards, please exit the room. I will call if I need you." They all leave the room. 

I stand back from Levi as we just stare at each other, then the unexpected happened, "Liz!" Levi runs up to me, hugging me, then picks me up and twirls me around. 

"Haha! Levi!" He sets me down and I genuinely smile, for the first time in many years.

Levi's eyes go wide, "Your smile is beautiful." 

I blush and turn away, "Don't get used to it." 

Levi smiles at me, "Don't get used to mine either, brat."

I laugh, "Oh, Levi!" I hug him again, "I'm sorry that you know the truth about me." I look away,

"Don't be ashamed, Liz. You did what you thought was best, which is better than most of us could say." 

"Thank you, Levi." I release our hug. 

Levi stares at me and I just look blank. I take this moment to ask him a question, "When do you intend on telling Mikasa that you are related? I mean, you can't let the poor girl go on living when she thinks the last family member she has alive is some serial killer!" 

"That serial killer is your best frien-" I interrupt him. 

"No matter my relations to him, she deserves to know. She won't tell anyone." I plead. 

Levi shakes his head, "Who cares about that, brat. She can die for all I care."

"Oh you lie, Levi! She's your family in some way and I know you care for her. As your Queen, I demand you tell her!" I laugh and put my hands to my waist triumphantly. 

Levi rolls his eyes, "Yeah, yeah, you stupid brat. I'll talk to her the next time I see her." 

Just then, Eren and Historia walk through the castle doors, accompanied with Hange and Mikasa. "Perfect timing, you can tell her now, " I look towards Mikasa, "Mika, meet Levi in the meeting room through the doors to the right, he has something to discuss with you." She nods and her and Levi walk off. Eren and Historia approach me and both kneel. "Yeah, I know you both got some shit with me right now, but fucking stand up. We are all apparently related in someway so no bowing to me for god sake. Anyways, on to more important matters, Eren and Historia shall be housed here from now on. Eren and I will train after he is given a proper meal, Historia may go with him, since she looks starved." My guards come in and show them the way, "Hange, come here." 

She approaches me, "Yes, Liz." 

I get up and hug her, "I'm sorry. I want to avenge Erwin."

"I know, Liz. We shall avenge him tomorrow." Hange smiles. 

"I wanted to give you something," I hand her a paper. "When we reclaim Wall Maria tomorrow, this is a deed for building a new Survey Corps HQ within all walls, fully equipped with the most advanced laboratory, and a huge out door pen for your titans. As soon as Maria is taken back, I have builders coming out immediately to get them started. What do you think?" 

Hange's glasses glint and her mouth drops, then she runs up and hugs me, "Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU LIZ! OH MY OH MY! I CAN ALREADY SEE THE EXPERIMENTS!" 

I laugh and hug her back, "Come now, lets go to Levi and Mikasa."
