"she has my mum's number from when she went through a spout of going and seeing me and her a lot," luke explained, heat in his hands as he sat on the bright yellow bleachers with ashton by his side. eventhough it was pitch black out, the neon paint of the bleachers practically lit up the entire school field. "plus, why wouldn't she tell my parents? she's done shit like this before, admittedly not to me, but i've seen her tear down other people's lives before. that was why we were supposed to stay a secret right from day one." he bit his pink lips, and all ashton could do was sit and listen to the boy rant. "i suppose really it's all my fault for trying to talk to you again."

ashton felt a little hurt by that statement to say the least but covered it up with a sigh, his head in his hands. "so what do we do now?" he asked pointlessly.

"if i knew, i wouldn't be sat here hoping you have a solution to all of this, would i?" luke snorted.

silence fell upon them as they both thought about the possible outcomes and things they could do to try and fix a situation like this, but most of the ones luke could think of were far fetched. this was reality. sierra wasn't realistically going to just drop everything and decide to be friends with him again.

"what's her problem with gay people?" ashton spoke up, his voice cracking a little, catching luke's attention. he lifted his head and made eye contact with the boy, and raised one eyebrow.

"what do you mean?"

"sierra was the first person i came out to." he said, looking away from luke and back down at his vans, contrasting to the neon painting of the bleachers. "and she was the last other than you because she didn't want anymore to do with me when she found out i was.. you know." he said.

"some people are just homophobic." luke bluntly stated. "i'm more worried about what i'm going to say to my strict christian parents when they ask why my 'best friend', and may i also add, the girl who has sucked up to my mum for the past two years, is telling them i'm gay." it came out more cruel than he meant it to be, but he sighed and let his hair fall into his face, his face falling too. "they'll literally disown me."

"i think you should get a girlfriend." ashton spoke up after a moment.

the blond pulled a face and was about to critise ashton for making another stupid joke, when the boy explained himself.

"if you get a girlfriend today and go home and introduce her to your parents and tell them some bullshit about how you've been together a couple months, theres less of a chance that they'll believe anything sierra says." he smiled. "plus, if they question you, just make up a story about how sierra has the hots for you and is just jealous of you and your girl. it's not that much of a lie." he shrugged.

luke stood up quickly from the bleachers.

"you're a genius."
