it had been three months since luke and ashton had officially broken up, and luke wasn't keeping to his promise of not talking to the boy ever again; in fact, he thought it was rather the opposite.

he felt like he had spoken to ashton more the past three months than he had in the two years they had been together.

it was weird.

luke was discreet when he did text the punk though, and made sure that no one he knew was around when he did. he had stopped shooting ashton a text at lunch now because sierra liked to glance at his phone screen and snoop at what he was doing all the time.

luke didn't want them to know he was still talking to ashton irwin.

whenever they'd bring him up they all attacked the boy for even dating him, and luke had learnt to just awkwardly laugh and play along with it, or to just keep his mouth shut and his head down when they made viscous comments about ashton that luke knew weren't in the slightest true. ashton had a heart of gold, of all people luke should've known that best. he just wasn't good at showing people that he has pure intentions at first. you have to get to know him for that.

today was one of those times.

luke listened to comments about ashton's home life being thrown around the gossip table, and he wished that he could find ashton and give him a hug for all the things they were saying about him.

even sierra was getting quite involved today, which shocked luke the most as she was usually the more quiet one of them all.

they were talking about ashton's homelife, and getting almost every detail wrong besides the fact that ashton doesn't have a father. luke wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. he wanted to shout at them all for being so ignorant. sometimes he wondered why they felt the need to talk about ashton all the time, but he never dared ask. he'd learnt not to if he wanted to stay in the friend group.

and thats how it was.

luke listened to the slanderous comments every lunch time and kept his head down. the most he would respond with was a 'yeah' and a slight head nod.

they didn't need to know he still cared about ashton.
