Part 2- Chapter 5- Background Check?

Joe POV
'So, Joe, before we continue I must say you have no need to worry. Miss Mercer over here has told us what happened and we have every reason to trust her, we just need you to confirm what she said.' I let out a sigh of relief- they didn't believe the press.
'Okay. So I left the house at about 9 after a fight with my girlfriend Dianne.'
'Dianne Buswell?'
'Yeah, that's the one. I drove to the bar and went in, must of been about 9:15. Just after, Evie walked in and sat next to me. We had both been in arguments, so had a fair few shots each. I can't remember exactly what happened, all I know is that in our drunken state we ended up kissing. Then Dave, the bartender, dragged us out and put us in separate Uber's to get home.'
'Perfect. That's exactly what we needed to hear. Thank you for your time.' Evie flashed me a pained smile, before exiting behind the police officers. The second I heard my door shut, I let out a huge sigh, collapsing onto the sofa.
'That was to close. I cannot get arrested over one stupid kiss.' I said to myself, luckily being home alone, otherwise o would've sounded insane.
'And why did you have to drink so much Joseph, this is the consequence you pay.' I groaned, turning my  heavy body over so it was facing my projector screen. I flicked the tv on, curling up to watch whatever was on.
Dianne POV
Today was a big day for us pros- we would be finding out who the celebrity's were for Strictly Come Dancing 2019. We wouldn't know who it partner was, we find that out at the same time as the celebrities do on tv, however we would be finding out the list of the 15 confirmed celebrities.
We all sat around a large rectangular table, with Amy on one side of me and Katya on the other. Before long, they started reading out names and describing a bit about them so we could write down who we think we'd pair well with at the end of the meeting. A few names I had heard before, however most were a complete mystery. Until one. One all to familiar name.
'So the 15th and final celebrity is actor Anthony Quinlan. He is best known as Pete from Emmerdale...' she continued speaking, but her words clumpedtogether into nothing, thoughts whirling round my head, my face spread with a slightly pained look.
'I um- I need some err- I need some water.' I swallowed back my fear, but the girls knew what was going on, so rushed after me.
'Have you ever heard of a background check? Because that might have been useful.' I heard Katya say before joining the other girls in coming after me. I was so confused. I hadn't exactly kept my ex-relationship with Anthony a secret, so why would they- money. This was his fault. He'd payed the producers. I locked the toilet cubicle I was in, having a mini panic attack as all sorts of different scenarios raced around my head. What if he's my partner? What if he sabotages the show?
'Dianne? Dianne are you in here?' I said nothing, but I'm guessing they could see my shoes under the door.
'Look, Di, don't worry. You have us girls here, if he try's anything, we'll be there to stop it.' Katya said softly.
'Yeah,' Amy continued 'he won't lay hands on you or Joe.' I slowly unlocked the door poking my head out and smiling slightly.
'Thank you.' Maybe this wouldn't be so bad...
*buzz*
*unknown: can't wait to see u on Strictly! Might even get to dance with u. Depends on the price, these producers don't bribe easily...'
Forgot to mention yesterday, tysm for 15K reads, that's actually insane xxx
Sooo there's a surprise contestant on Strictly 2019... but will he be able to bribe the producers into making Dianne his partner? Will he stay on the show after what he's done? And will joe ever recover from his hangover 😂? Find out (hopefully 😬) tomorrow...
