Narrator POV
A year went by. They lived. They laughed. They continued to love. Dianne had been on Strictly 2019, and made it to week 4, but now Strictly 2020 had rolled around.
Joe POV
My hands were clammy, a gentle smile on my face as I watched Dianne glide across the floor with Kevin. Conor was performing Turn Around, as he was the musical guest for the week. Week 5. She had no idea what was about to happen. I tapped at my pocket, reassuring myself before watching her finish the routine. This was it. It was now or never. Dianne smiled, and started to walk off stage, however, something stopped her.
Dianne POV
I finished the routine, smiling out to the crowd, before starting to make my way off the floor. However, Kevin stopped dead on front of me, and turned around, making me turn with him. I noticed that Conor was still in the stage. He cued Dave Arch, and a familiar song echoed the room. My hand found it's way to my mouth as I walked slowly back towards the floor.
'Why are there so many... songs about Rainbows...' Conor began to sing. The tears were welling up as I found the centre of the floor. I looked up, and saw, standing there, at the top of the cake, the man who I fell in love with in this very place. A tear rolled down my face, as he began to walk down the stairs, his side smirk following my blurred gaze.
'Someday we'll find it, the Rainbow Connection, the lovers, the dreamers-,' The music cut out and Joe was standing directly in front of me. He took my shaking hand, and looked deep into my eyes.
'And me.' I smiled at him through my tears of pure happiness. I jolted a look over at Kevin, seeing him welling up slightly, nodding at me like a brother would if he were here.
'Dianne, 2 years ago, in this week, we performed your favourite dance to this song. From that moment, I knew that he crazy, red headed Aussie was the only girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. You are the best thing in my life, the light in my darkness, angel in my hell, not to mention the key to my views,' we giggled slightly, before he continued.
'I found my soulmate in the place where I never would have expected, I found it through fate, and meeting you is the best thing that's ever happened to me, and that ever will happen to me. We found our Rainbow Connection.' My heart skipped a beat as I felt him lower to the ground, his knee hitting the floor. He pulled out a small velvet box, and pulled it open, holding it in front of my eyes.
'Dianne Claire Buswell- Will you marry me?' I couldn't contain myself as I felt tears stream down my cheeks, flinging my arms around Joes neck. I pulled him into a sweet kiss, is nervousness visible in his shaky lips.
'Of course I will. I love you.' He pulled me back into him, before slipping the ring into my finger. I scanned the room, noticing everyone, even Craigy, standing up and crying. This is what happiness felt like.
