Lotor screamed, sitting up in bed as sweat poured down his face and neck. Voices streaked across Lotor's mind. Voices that all sounded the same. His father's voice.
'You are a stain in our family's legacy'
'A real man would have done the right thing without permission because he knew how to walk, talk and act like a man'
'You will never amount to anything compared to me'
'I don't need a boy like you'
Lotor clutched the hair hanging down the sides of his face as his sweat turned to tears. Stress flooded every vein and artery in his body. But everything was alright, right? He had a stable job. There was a roof over his head. And...
Lotor turned to his side to look at your peaceful body. Your chest slowly rose up and down with your quiet breathing. You were his. There was nothing that was going to change that, right?
He frowned as he lifted the blanket over your body to show the bump in your stomach. Four more months. Four more months until he was a father. Four more months until he would have to raise a child to not be his father or himself.
Lotor let out a shaky breath. The voices collided in his head as negative memories and comments began to scream inside his head. He grunted, rushing out of the bed and into the bathroom. He shot his hands out, running into the shower.
Cold water shook the voices out as his body asked him to retreat back into his warm bed next to you. Turn back. You're going to get sick. (y/n) is waiting for you. Just go back. (y/n) is waiting for you.
"Lotor?"
Lotor remained in the stream of the shower, the voices. The voices were still there. They were still shouting and still screaming into the demon that was created.
"Lotor." You walked from the door into the bathroom. A quick turn of the top stopped the icy cold water from hammering Lotor's shoulders. "You'll catch a cold if you do this to yourself." You carefully took Lotor by the hand and led him out of the shower.
His clothes clung to his skin as the water dripped down onto the floor. You wrapped a long towel over Lotor's body and embraced him. "Lotor, what's wrong?"
Lotor stayed silent, slowly warming up from your hug. For a few seconds, you thought Lotor was about to fall asleep. But he broke into tears.
"I'm sorry (y/n), I'm sorry I let you down."
You frowned, clutching him closer. "Lotor, what are you talking about?"
"I failed. I'm a failure (y/n). I can't be a father to our son. I can't be a father to our daughter. I can't be a husband to you. I'm a failure. I failed."
Your heart shattered into a million pieces. "No," you said. "You are NOT a failure. You can't be failure, failure isn't a person. You are a success, Lotor. You have succeeded. You are the CEO of the greatest company in the world, you are the best husband I could ever ask for and you will be the world's best father to our son."
"My son..." Lotor shifted his face to nuzzle yours. "We have a son."
"Yes, Lotor," Your voice shook as your tears began to fall with Lotor's. "We have a son, and he loves you."
"How?" Lotor cried. "How do you know that he loves me?"
You began to cry harder. "Every time you walk into the room and speak, I feel him moving inside me. He loves you Lotor. You haven't let us down, you can't let us down."
"I love you Lotor."
"But I have depression."
"So what? I still love you."
"But I'm such a burden."
"No! You're not a burden, not to me."
"But... I'm always crying and-"
"I will still love you.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you..."
No one talks about males getting depression. This era can be labelled as a chaos century. A lot of people are being left behind when everyone is arguing about politics and genders. It's stupid. We still have people who are suffering in the shadows.
Saying that we're okay never helps us. We are sick, we are broken and we feel lost.
So as a depressed person, I am saying to others who know the pain, it hurts. It will always hurt but we are the strong ones. We fight every day to live for another second. We stay quiet when others laugh, dance and sing. So, my brothers in the dark, you are not alone.
To the girls reading this, it's hard being a guy. Embrace them. Just because they're dudes that are meant to be strong and muscular, it doesn't mean that they have insecurities about how they look and what they do. They also want to impress people. After all, only the hot guys who have awesome genetics get picked.
It's hard being depressed as a guy. So to everyone reading, embrace one another. Understand that being depressed means we are sick, not wallowing in self-pity. We take pills and take extra measures just to look normal.
All levels of depression shouldn't be ignored.
I love you all. Keep fighting the good fight.
Fight for life, your life
