"what happened?"

a concerned chaeyoung asked, brushing past jimin and immediately looking for minji.

"she's in her room," mumbled jimin.

chaeyoung nodded and headed towards the room while jimin followed.

the pair found minji inside her room, hiding under her purple blanket.

jimin glanced at chaeyoung, motioning her to say something.

"um.. minji, it's me, chaeyoung," she said softly, sitting on the side of the bed.

"is daddy there?" asked the little girl, still hiding under the blanket.

chaeyoung waved off jimin, telling him to leave the room. jimin did as told.

"he's not," chae replied.

minji poked her head out from the blanket, checking to make sure.

chaeyoung chuckled at her cuteness, patting the girl's head. "why? what happened?"

minji immediately embraced chae, hugging her tight and whimpering.

"unnie, i want to stay with you now," she whined. "i don't like daddy."

chaeyoung sighed softly. "what did he do?" she asked in a soft, sweet tone.

"h-he doesn't love mommy," minji whispered back. "that's not how it's supposed to be."

chaeyoung stayed silent, not knowing the best way to comfort minji.

"daddy and mommy always stay in love, right?" asked the young girl, looking up with her big eyes.

"well... not all the time," chaeyoung replies, uncertain what to say next. "sometimes people change."

the younger girl hung her head low, sniffling softly.

"but it doesn't mean that your dad doesn't care. he probably still cares about you and your mom a lot."

"really?" minji asked in a hopeful tone. chae nodded with a sweet smile.

"now stay here for a moment, i will go speak to your dad okay?"

chaeyoung exited the room and headed towards the living room, where jimin was fast asleep on the couch.

"son of a bitch," chaeyoung muttered under her breath before she raised her hand to slap him on his arm.

she momentarily stopped however, as she noticed how... cute he looked.

she shook her head clear of this thoughts and slapped his arm quite hard.

jimin woke up with a bolt, immediately massaging his arm.

"what the fuck! what was that for!"

"my hand was falling asleep, so i needed to wake it up."

"aishh, whatever," jimin groaned. "anyways, i-is minji okay now?"

chaeyoung nodded. "but tell me, what actually happened?"

"i- um.. i-," jimin slicked his hair back with his hand.

"well, mina.. told me that she still loved me," jimin said, finding out what to say.

"so, i told her how i really felt. that maybe i never even loved her in the first place."

chaeyoung shook her head, frustrated. "really? why would you say th-?"

"why? whats the problem? honesty is the best policy right?" jimin defended his statement, deep down knowing he was at fault.

"yeah, but why would you say it in front of your child you dumbfuck?"

chaeyoung sighed, feeling like she was talking to a child rather than a grown man.

"do you know how sad a child would be if they heard that? she's still young, jimin."

"yeah yeah, i understand," jimin said, annoyed. he got up from the couch, heading towards the kitchen.

"no, no you don't. you're not even trying," chaeyoung said, anger building up inside her.

jimin froze. "w-what," he said softly.

chaeyoung followed him to the kitchen. "minji doesn't deserve a father like you."

jimin turned away, his back facing chae. he stood there silently.

for a few moments, tension filled the room. chaeyoung knew she shouldn't have said that, but it was too late.

jimin turned towards chaeyoung, his eyes filled with tears.

"i-im trying my best..." he whispered, his voice faltering. he faced away as the tears started to flow.

chaeyoung herself froze, not knowing how to apologize at this moment. instead, she embraced jimin in a hug, not saying anything.

surprisingly, jimin didn't push her away. instead, he leaned into her shoulder, sniffling softly.

after a few moments, jimin pulled away. he stared at her for a few seconds, then he slowly leaned in towards her.

chaeyoung closed her eyes, know what was going to happen next.
