Alissa’s POV

Today was my first day off since I’ve been here and I’m thankful because I’m still jet lagged, which causes me to have less motivation than usual.

The sky was overcast and it was cold out, but the cold never stopped me from going outside.

I threw on a hoodie and sweats and tied my hair up into a ponytail. Instead of putting my contacts in, I threw my glasses on, not expecting to see anyone interesting today. Australians don’t particularly like the cold so I assumed not many people would be out and about.

I looked over to Grace’s bed and she was still asleep, thankfully. I didn’t want to have her following me around today. Don’t get me wrong, I love her to death, but I need my space.

I picked up my phone and my cross-body purse, told mom I was going for a walk, and left the house.

Like I said, not many people would be out. As I was walking around town, I looked into the shops, but nothing really caught my eye. I passed some couples here and there and I immediately thought of Ashton. Am I really getting attached to him? It’s weirding me out because I’ve never been like this about a guy before. I mean, the stuttering, blushing and giggles just aren’t me. I must’ve been too lost in thought because I ran into something, or someone, with a thump.

“Sorry I wasn’t paying attent- Luke? Is that you?”

He turned around and his eyes lit up. “Oh hey Alissa! Funny seeing you here.”

I just had to run into him when I look like crap, just my luck. “Ha, ha, ha, it’s hilarious.”

“Where’s Grace? You two are usually together, aside from when you’re working.”

“She was still asleep when I left. You should go wake her up.” I said wiggling my eyebrows.

“I could say the same to you about Ashton.”

“What are you talking about? We’re just friends!”

“Yeah, right… anyway I’m taking you up on your offer. See ya later!” Well I wasn’t serious, but whatever floats your boat Luke.

I continued walking until I got to the park. An hour had to have gone by of me just lying on the grass, looking up at the sky, when my phone beeps signaling a text.

Ash xx:

What are you doing?

Me:

Just sitting in my room talking to Grace. I didn’t need him seeing me like this.

Ash xx:

Seriously? Bc it doesn’t look like it.

I paused for a minute. What does he mean it doesn’t look like it. I sat up and started looking around in panic.

“Looking for something?” He came out from behind a tree laughing his ass off.

“ASHTON!” I screamed at him in ‘anger’ for creeping me out like that. “How’d you know I was here?”

“Lucky guess?” He answered in more of a question. I raised an eyebrow at him. “Okay, Luke told me he ran into you and I assumed you’d be around here.” He came over and sat beside me on the grass. “Anyway, what were you even looking at?” He started to mimic my position from before.

“Just looking at the clouds. Why?”

“That’s all you were doing for 10 minutes?”

“You were watching me for 10 minutes? You’re so creepy!”
