"Riley, let's go!" I heard Dad yell from downstairs.

I hauled my luggage down and dropped it onto the floor with a loud sigh. I caught Maya laughing in the corner, and I stuck my tongue out at her.

"Okay, you guys got everything? You know the hotel and room numbers, you got your plane tickets, um...what am I forgetting? Maya, keep Riley away from the guy's room! We-"

"Dad, we'll be fine! Farkle probably triple checked everything, too."

"Okay," he sighed. "Let's get to the airport then!"

I dragged my bags out the front door and shoved them into the trunk of the car. Maya followed and stacked hers on top. Farkle and Zay were already in the car, waiting for our slow asses to get in.

"Hurry up," Zay groaned from the backseat.

Maya mocked him and got inside. I followed and sat down. Farkle was in the back and Auggie was on the other side of Maya. Auggie was still angry that he wasn't allowed to go with us, but Maya kept reminding him that she'll get him gifts, so he was sort of okay with it.

My parents entered the car after confirming we had everything, and Dad drove off to the airport.

This would be the first time on an airplane this summer. I decided that airplanes weren't my cup of tea as I thought about the next time I'll be on one. I'd be walking away from my home.

I've never been on an airplane, so I was thankful that Farkle and Zay were with us. Farkle was used to flying since his Dad traveled a lot, so he would be helpful in this situation. He's helpful in any situation, really.

We checked in and walked towards security.

"Alright, guys," Dad exhaled. "See you in a week. Don't do anything stupid, have fun, and stay away from boys," he eyed me.

I nodded and gave him a quick hug. "I'm not a child, Dad."

"I know," he smiled and hugged Maya. "I'm just teasing. But be safe, okay guys?"

After everyone hugged basically everyone, we waved goodbye and went through security. We sat down after what felt like forever and waited a couple more hours till we could board.

Farkle and Zay went to get some snacks while we tried to relieve our boredom. I propped my feet on the chair across from me, and Maya tried figuring out what my favorite Disney movie was.

"Lion King?" she guessed and I shook my head.

"That's probably my least favorite," I hesitantly said, knowing she'd freak out.

"WHAT?! Is it crack? Is that what you smoke? Do you smoke crack?"

"It's so overrated!" I said in defense. "I was expecting some magical and life-changing movie but there were just...talking lions."

"I'm so done with you," she bitterly muttered. "I really can't talk to you anymore."

"What? It's not a big deal, relax!"

"Relax?" she scoffed. "Re-fucking-lax?!"

I put my hands up in defense and scooted away.

"I will be sitting with Farkle during the plane ride," she said with no emotion.

I laughed and shook my head. "You're serious? Come on, Maya! I wanna sit with you, please?"

Farkle and Zay returned with food and she began munching on a bag of chips they tossed her. They sat across from us and looked confused.

"What happened?"

"Riley doesn't like the Lion King."

Their jaws dropped and they began attacking me with harsh words.

"Jesus Christ, I get it, guys! I already got yelled at by her. She won't even sit next to me on the plane! So, Zay, you're stuck with me."

He shrugged. "Okay, I'm fine with that."

"See?! Zay's fine with it, why aren't you? We're best friends, come on!"

"Fine," she sighed. "I forgive you, but I'm not sitting with you. Healing takes time."

I raised an eyebrow and reached for some chips. She pulled the bag away and growled, causing me to jump back in shock.

"Sorry," she said, laughing. "Your face is just hilarious."

I shook my head and leaned back in my chair, folding my arms. Farkle and Zay looked over with furrowed eyebrows before starting their own conversation.

Maya offered me the bag and I hesitated. "Don't worry, honey, I won't do anything."

I took a chip and exhaled in relief when she didn't attempt to scare me to death. I chomped on the chip and jumped as she shrieked in my ear.

I shoved her and sat a few seats away from her. She laughed and apologized, but I flipped her off. I took my phone out to pass some time, ignoring her half-assed apologies.

Finally, after a few long hours, it was time to board. We checked in and got inside the roomy, cozy looking plane. I sat next to Zay, a few seats behind Maya and Farkle.

"So," Zay began in a quiet voice. "You and Maya?"

"We are not talking about this again," I scowled, making him put his hands up in defense.

"Well, I'll talk then," he smirked. "You should really tell her how you feel. You seem miserable and that hurts to see. You always make us happy when we're feeling down, so I wanna help. I think telling her will help, don't you agree?"

I looked out the window and bit my lip. "Yeah, but I'm scared she won't feel the same way."

"Trust me," he laughed. "It's obvious you two have feelings for each other. Just don't overthink it and go for her."

I nodded and kissed his cheek. "Thanks. Sorry I ate your cookie."

"It's okay. I'm not completely over it, but hey, healing takes time, as your future wife said a few-"

My eyes widened and he stopped mid-sentence to laugh. I shoved him but I could feel the blush rushing to my face.

A flight attendant walked down the aisle with a tray full of food and drinks. Zay got a cookie and I got a cup of fruit.

His eyes shifted from the cookie and to me. "Oh, no."

"Don't worry, I won't eat it this time," I rolled my eyes.

He took a bite and instantly his face lit up. "Wow, this cookie makes up for the one you stole. Wow, thank you for stealing it, oh my god."

I squinted in confusion but nodded anyway. I turned on the small screen on the back of the seat in front of me and found a TV show to watch. I plugged in the crappy earbuds they provided and stared at the screen but paid little attention.

After a few minutes, I got bored and shut it. Zay was quietly laughing at his show and I smiled to myself. I'm gonna go insane without these guys being a constant in my life.

Since it was nighttime, most of the plane was asleep. A few snores filled the small area which irritated me a little, but I got over it.

I looked up when I heard footsteps getting louder and saw Maya hovering over.

"Hey," she whispered. "Zay, switch with me?"

He quickly got up after shutting his screen and gave me a thumbs up when Maya wasn't looking. I smiled at him and stifled a laugh as he almost tripped onto some guy who was sleeping.

"Hi."

"Hey," I slowly said. "I thought you didn't want to sit with me?"

She shrugged. "I got bored. Can I sit?"

I smiled. "Of course."
