The next morning.....
Holy shit! It was my birthday! I thought as I got up from bed the next morning. I jumped in the shower, feeling the hot water run all the grease off my head and feeling my skin prick from the heat.
I got dressed in my favorite outfit and put on a little makeup.
I hopped down the stairs and to the kitchen.
"Well good morning birthday girl!" My mom said as she put pancakes in front of me. I threw on my sneakers and shoved the pancakes down my throat.
"Happy birthday!" My little brother said as he hopped into my lap.
"Thanks little dude!" I said kissing his cheek.
"Okay I gotta eat!" I said as I put him down.
"Oh after school sweetie, be home as soon as possible. We are going to dinner, remember?" Mom called.
"Yep!" I replied half listening as I rushed out the door.
"Okay sweetie! Have a good day!" She shouted as I was out the door.
"You too!" I shouted back.
I ran to the bus stop and the bus picked me up. I sat down in the first seat and couldn't wait to get to school. I got off the bus and Winnie and Carter were waiting for me with presents.
"Happy birthday!" They called.
"Thanks guys." I said as I hugged them. I opened their presents and my heart filled with happiness. I got a bracelet from Carter and I got a stuffed animal holding a heart from Winnie.
"Thank you guys!" I said hugging them again.
We walked into class and I sat down. Ryan turned to me and said "Happy birthday Kaida."
"How'd you know?" I ask furrowing my brows.
"The whole school is talking about it."
"What? Why?"
He laughs and looks back at me.
"You're more popular then you think, notebook."
Maybe sophomore year did change me...
"Did you just call me notebook?" I scold being pulled back into reality.
"Well I see you writing all the time in that little thing so, why not?"
I scowl at him and he laughs.
He hands me a box and I question him.
"Just open it."
I sigh and open the box to see a beautiful necklace.
"Holy hell! How much was this?"
"Dont you know to not ask how much a present is?"
"Ryan, I barely know you!" I said holding it.
"Well maybe we should change that." He smiled at me.
My heart leapt a million miles an hour and I couldn't help but smile at the beautiful present.
"Well thank you." I said as I put it on. He smiled as he saw it hang around my neck peacefully and I looked at him.
The teacher started class so he turned around. I couldn't help but play with the necklace all day. After homeroom, I walked to my locker with Winnie and Carter.
"This is nice. This is exactly how I wanted my birthday to be. Just us three." I sighed and looked at them after closing my locker.
"I'm glad." Winnie smiled. I walked in the opposite direction of them to go to Bio.
Can my birthday present be to not go to bio? I ask myself as I walk into class.
I sat in class and tapped my pencil until it was time to leave.
I hopped out of my chair to my favorite class and grabbed my sketchbook. I opened it and a piece of paper fell out.
Hi, I may look cool but I'm way too shy to ask you in person. I see you everyday in more then one class and I wanted to know if you wanted to go out sometime.
My heart swelled. But who was it from?
I looked around the classroom and saw no one that would have written the letter. I soon just kind of forgot about it when class started.
It was quiet as kids drew and did other homework until the door creaked open. I'm came Ryan, late for class again.
He sat down next to me and put his bag at the side of him. He wrote his name and it struck me. I looked at the note and then his name. It was the same handwriting.
"It was you?" I whispered in shock.
He gave me a confused look and I held up the note. His eyes went wide and he looked back down at his paper.
"It was you wasn't it?" I asked again.
He looked at me and put his pencil down.
"Yeah. I was just too scared to ask you myself. Sorry if that ruined it." He sighed. We got shushed by the teacher and we were silent for a minute, not looking at each other until I spoke again.
"So are you serious?" I ask.
He chuckles and looks at me.
"Yes. I wouldn't joke about it."
My heart stuttered in awe and I smiled. I looked into his eyes and before I could think I spoke.
"Yes." I replied suddenly.
"What?" He questioned.
"Yes. I'll go out with you!"
Best birthday present ever!
