The next day.....
I was rushed out the door because my mom had planned with all my friends to have a meeting at the park. I ran to the park and they sat me down to tell them everything.
"So what do you know?" Sawyer asked.
"I know that I'm a sixth generation vampire hunter. My boyfriend is a vampire who's out to kill me. I know that my friends are werewolves who are gonna help me and I know that this is all so bizarre."
"Well I was looking up history on your family and it seems like your great great great great grandpa killed a vampire known as Viola Grim. She was one of the strongest vampires ever and he took her down. He shot her with a cross bow with double barbed arrow and it got lodged in her heart. People say poison was dipped onto it and it burned her from the inside out." Carter explained.
"Dark." Winnie commented.
"No kidding." Cameron squeaked.
"So he wants to kill me because of some vampire queen that was killed four generations ago? Why now?" I ask.
"Maybe it's just a family line thing. Like it's not done until the newest generation is killed so the family line doesn't live on." Sawyer implied
"But I have a younger brother so why not him?" I ruled
"Is he dating a vampire?" Abigail snarked.
Harvey snapped at her and she calmed down.
"Okay so what am I supposed to do?" I ask.
"You need to learn how to fight." Harvey spoke.
Later that night dad had come home with weapons for me to train with.
I had spent the next two days learning to fight and dad said I was good. He said I was better then he was. I felt pretty confident in my abilities to fight and I felt like I was ready.
I ended up skipping school that week to make myself stronger. I could feel that something was gonna happen.
After training on Friday night I was putting weapons away. As I packed the bow away I noticed my ring.
I remember what Ryan had said and now it wasn't cute anymore, it was scary.
"Even if you can't see me, I'll always be there." Thinking of all the things he said now made my blood curdle.
My spine tingled and I put the bow away.
I ran upstairs into my room and crawled into bed. I hadn't taken the ring off for some reason, I just tried to ignore it.
Maybe somewhere inside me I wanted it to be a dream. I wanted it to not be real.
But I knew that when I woke up the next morning, I'd be stuck in the same nightmare.
I woke up the next morning, needing to take a hot shower. I got in and washed my hair and my pale body. I got out and got dressed in a new outfit I hadn't worn before.
It was now spring break and we didn't have school, but there was a lacrosse game.
I headed out the door and to the school.
I sat on the bleachers as the game started.
We were ten minutes in and we were already crushing the other team.
15 to 5.
I cheered after they walked off the field for halftime. I felt the urge to pee so I got up and walked into the school. It was dark except for the big glass windows.
I walked into the bathroom and used it. While I was washing my hands I thought I saw a figure in the mirror. I jumped and looked back to see no one there.
You're psyching yourself out Kaida.
I rushed out of the bathroom and walked to the door. Before I made it I ran into someone.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" I said backing up and looking at his eyes.
Green. Beautiful green.
"Oh it's okay! I didn't feel a thing!" He laughed as he pointed out his gear.
I laughed.
"Right. I'm pretty sure that if a 195 pound man running full speed at you doesn't hurt then I am no trouble at all." I giggled.
"Yeah. But I should be asking if you're okay! This stuff hurts!" He said checking me over.
A piece of hair fell out of place and he pushed it back with his fingers.
"Thanks." I said.
"No problem." He looked at me.
"I'm Kaida."
"Asher." He shook my hand.
"Shouldn't you get back out there? I think you're starting soon."
"Shit! I should." He opened the door and let me out.
"Thanks." He ran out and waved goodbye at me. I smiled and waved back. I sighed and was soon interrupted my a low voice.
"Who was that?" I turned around to see Ryan.
"Oh, just some kid I met. I accidentally ran into him."
"Come on. I want to show you something." He held out his hand.
"Oh I was watching the game, wanna join?"
"This is more important." He insisted.
"O-okay." I took his hand and he led me into the woods.
"You're not gonna give me another present are you?" I ask laughing nervously.
"No darling." We walked in silence for a while more.
"Where are we going? This isn't the way to the tree."
"I know."
It was silent then I asked
"What's up with you you seem off?"
"And you seem tense. So what's wrong with you?"
"Nothing..."
"Defensive are we?" He asked laughing.
"No. Just... cautious."
"Cautious? When have you ever been around me? You almost had sex with me and we've only been dating for a month."
I blushed at the memory of that. It was a week ago when I stayed home from school. He was in my room after I finished my shower and we made out and almost had sex. Keyword being almost.
"Don't worry baby. It's nothing to be embarrassed about!"
I looked away and he moved closer.
"Besides. You won't have to live with it for long. In fact you won't have to live at all for long."
