Life was going good. Two weeks had passed. I started going out with Ryan and he was so nice. He'd bring me breakfast every morning and he'd make sure I was okay. He started sitting with us at lunch and the girls really liked him. But it seemed like Harvey didn't. Maybe he was just upset that he wasn't the only nice guy there anymore. But it also seemed like the CAWS -minus Winnie- didn't either. They always glared at him and they seemed to make snarky remarks for whatever he said. It kind of made me upset to see my friends not like him but I tried to brush it off.
I sat in art with him and he handed me a note. I opened it and he wrote
Hang with me after school? <3
I smiled and nodded at him. He smiled wide and I couldn't wait for after school. The day seemed so slow when I had something to look forward to.
After school I went to my locker and got my bag.
Cameron came up to me and asked if I could have a study group tonight with him and the CAWS.
"Sorry I can't. I'm hanging out with Ryan tonight." Cameron scoffed and walked away.
Well that was unnecessary
I closed my locker and was met with Ryan's beautiful eyes.
"Hey." I blushed.
"Hi." He blushed back "ready?"
"Yeah." I sighed.
He took my hand and we walked into the woods.
"Where are we going?" I asked giggling.
"You'll see." He brushed off my question.
We made it to a huge tree and he turned to me.
"This is my secret hideout." He said.
"Is it much of a secret if it's this huge?" I laughed.
"Fair point but, I thought you'd like to see it."
He opened the tree and I walked in. It was completely hollow inside.
"Woah." I stood in awe.
"This is like a house!" I gawked.
He chuckled at me and agreed.
"Come here if you ever can't find me or need some space alone. It's hidden in plain sight and no one ever seems to notice it." He grabbed my hands.
"I will. I definitely...definitely will."
I walked around and looked at the books that were in the walls.
Werewolf mythology
Facts and myths about vampires
Supernatural 101
"Wow you must really like fantasy." I say gliding my fingers across the gold bindings of all these books.
"Yes. It is very interesting." He nodded.
I don't know why but that kind of irked me. That didn't seem normal but I brushed it off. I think he was just nervous. I grabbed a book and opened it.
"This looks like your handwriting." I said.
He grabbed the book from my hands and put it back.
"These aren't meant to be read." He scolded putting it back.
"What do you mean? They are books! Of course they are!" I replied.
"No, they are decorations only."
I closed my mouth and mumbled an apology. I just don't get why he's so defensive.
I checked my watch and it was already five.
"I should probably get back home." I said pointing to the door.
"Yeah. You should. I don't want your parents worrying about you. Don't want to seem like a bad guy now do I?" He winked at me. I laughed and hugged him.
"I'll see you later, beautiful."
My heart overflowed at that nickname.
"What, are you not gonna call me notebook anymore?"
"Would you prefer notebook?" He asked rhetorically.
I rolled my eyes and he laughed.
"Exactly. Now go home." He sent me out and I waved goodbye as his tree went out of view. He waved back and I shook my head.
There's just something about him.
