Two days later....
School was hell. I was so stressed out that my grades had all dropped.
"Kaida, I need to see you after class." All my teachers had said.
They asked me the same questions
"Why were you gone for so long? Are you gonna be able to make up the work? Did you know your grades slipped?" And I'd respond with "I was really sick. Yes I can totally make up the work" and I'd say so sarcastically "I am not aware of my grade slipping." But them being old they didn't catch it. I was just handed the work and then I'd go to my next class. I went to lunch and sat by all of my friends.
On the third day that Ryan didn't show up, I started to worry. It scared me that he was gone for so long because I didn't know what he was planning.
He could only get stronger from being away from us.
Harvey picked up on my nervousness and walked over to me.
"Hey you'll be okay. Maybe he just left."
"I've only known him for a couple months but I know he's not just gonna pack up and leave."
I brushed his hand off my shoulder and walked away.
I stayed after school on the benches by the lacrosse practice.
After a while I just lost myself in my own little world.
I looked over as I heard clanging in the bleachers and saw Asher sit by me.
"Hey. You look lonely over here."
"Well you look needed over there!" I said pointing to the guys that were beckoning for Asher.
He smiled at me and said bye as he walked back over to the team.
He waved at me as he got put on the field.
They started a drill as I got up and I heard metal and plastic clanking together. I looked over and Asher was on the ground with a senior on top of him.
They all oohed and I ran onto the field.
"Asher you okay?" I question nervously.
He didn't move and I took off his helmet.
"Asher! Asher!" I shake him and he wakes up.
"That hurt." He coughed out.
I laughed as it relieved my stress.
He leaned up and hugged me.
"Does it ruin my reputation if my entire team knows I got saved by a girl."
I laughed again as he stood up.
"Are you okay?" I ask once more as I start to leave the field.
"Yes. Yes I am." He says snapping his fingers at me.
I smile and shake my head.
He's such a dork.
I walked home and into my room. I was doing my homework when a thud emitted from my window.
I look out my window and a bird laid crumpled on my balcony.
I walked out and saw the storm clouds overhead.
I ran back in and locked the balcony door. I heard more thuds and saw more birds falling.
I closed the curtains and ran into the basement. My family ran downstairs and locked the door.
This wasn't a storm this was the beginning of war.
