The voice lesson was stellar. There was no doubt about it, I was a star. But, I needed to put in the work, because I wasn't going to let a single flaw decide whether I make it into Legally Blonde: The Musical or not.

I cleared my schedule for the afternoon. I had a class later in the day at five, but every waking moment until then, I would would work on perfecting "So Much Better" to a T. I practically squeal with excitement as I take out my sheet music. "Katherine Steele, Future Elle Woods" echoes like a sweet chorus in my head.

I sit down and start playing:

"I'll this time I'd planned I would be patient, and you would love me again.."

My phone erupts with texts. Well, I've gotten two, but that's all I've heard. I could've gotten a bunch, but the sound of the piano drowns out most sounds. I scurry over to my bed where my phone lay untouched. The screen illuminates, with those little alert bubbles popping up.

They're from Rami...

'Hey, Katherine,' I read. Who starts a text like that? 'I have an extra ticket to the ice cream museum today at two o'clock. That we could use it to get our minds off of Kate."

I guess it was only one text after all..

'Idk' I reply, unsure what he's requesting. Does he want me to join him at the ice cream museum. 'I have an audition in a couple weeks'

'Please. My roommate can't come, and need something to take my mind off of what's happening to Kate.' The texts comes through, practically blaring.

'Fine' I type glancing up at the clock. It's 1:45 right now. I better get ready, I think to myself. I look down at what I'm wearing. I look like a third grade teacher because I'm wearing jeans and a long stringy cardigan, but that'll do. 'Meet me in front of my door in five. I have classes at 5:00, so we might need to make it quick.'

'Will do'

Minutes later, I hear a knock on my door. I rush to open it, revealing Rami. He sports an awkward mile, per usual.

"You ready?" he asks, leaning on the door frame.

"Ready," I reply, unsure why I am even doing this in the first place. "Let's go."

I figure this will be a good distraction. I need to get my mind off of Kate...

I am only doing this to get my mind off of Kate.
