The ice cream museum ended up not being that bad. I learned that Rami is obsessed with Queen and Freddie Mercury, and he also loves random encounters and looking sharp. He is a real strange cat, but yet again so am I.
I have this gut feeling that we belong together, but I could never do something so evil to Kate. I know how much she loves him. But, he's just as awkward as me, if not more. I want to get to know him better. And what better way than...
with a kiss.
We are sitting in his car, waiting for him to rub off his Queen 'A Night at the Opera' CD. Apparently it was scratched or something, so he pulled out a cloth and started wiping it.
"You know, it's my dream to play Freddie Mercury in a biopic," he says, looking intensively at his disc. I just can't bare the tension anymore. Is he feeling it too? How will it go down.
"I've always wanted to play Patti La Belle," I say, trying to look cute by pinning a few strands of my hair behind my ear.
"I really ought to get one of those cars with the USBs," he says, not even looking at my new hairstyle. "Could just hook up my phone and listen to anything I want."
"Rami," I say, a bit nervous.
"What?" he asks, still scrubbing his disk.
"Rami, look at me!" I plead. I never thought I would have to resort to this.
He pivots his head, and his huge rat eyes stare into mind. I quickly place my hand on his razor sharp jawline and kiss him. I can hear angelic choirs in my head singing, it is just that beautiful!
He pulls away, and the expression on his face shows me that he is shocked... and angry.
"I didn't mean to-" I blurt out. The truth was, I did. I've never met anybody so quirky and fun, who lives life unapologetically as themselves.
"No, you meant to," he interrupts me. "I'm dating Kate, your best friend!"
"I know that," I say. My fingers start to run up his arm, stroking his skin. "But if she goes to jail tonight.."
He slaps my hand, and I pull it back. Not a hard slap, but more like a shove pushing my hand off of him.
"The reason I came here with you is because I didn't want to think about that!" he nearly shouts. "Now you bring it up right after you kiss me."
Now I feel in the car is awkwardness and dead silence.
"I'm just going to the bus back," I say, grabbing my purse from beneath my feet. "Thanks for the fun afternoon, Rami."
He doesn't say anything. I quickly sneak out and shut the door behind me.
