Part 17

Arjun felt Mukta shivering so he tightened his hold on her. He saw Rajveer was furiously staring to her and Riya was nowhere near. He looked to Rashmi and his mother, they were also looking bewildered on his sudden and unexpected decision.

He didn't let anyone know about his action. It was the impulse and immediate solution of his problems.

Flashback

Arjun was going through the papers when Mukta called him. Just when he realised that Riya name was not included anywhere in those papers. Rajveer was clever but caught in his own web. He only mentioned Arjun had to married to his sister but sister's name was not specified. According to relation Mukta was also Rajveer's sister, and he couldn't deny the fact as per law. She inherited all the fortune of their father by law while Riya was not even considered legitimate daughter.

Now he was sure that Rajveer could not do anything. His dirty tricks were over. But now he had the biggest problem. He was thinking about the main hurdle in his plan ... Mukta....

He knew that even after all the things good or bad but she loved his brother so much. She couldn't be ready too easily. He decided to meet her as he had only 3 days to do something.

He said his mother that he was going for some work and came next day and he reached to meet Mukta.

He reached there and rang the doorbell. Rama opened the door and gave him the way to enter. He asked about Mukta.
"Where is Mukta? I have to talk to her..."

Rama replied,
"Sir please sit.... i am going to tell her..."

Arjun settled on the couch and started to change the channels on tv. After few minutes, Mukta came from her room.

He switched off the tv and set straight to talk to her.
"Mukta.... i want to tell you something... and maybe it will hurt you again...."

Mukta looked him confused, it was the first time in last 6 months since they met that he was hesitating.

He again looked her and finally accepted,
" Rajveer is my brother in law.... my sister's Rashmi husband.... it was all his plan to destroy you. I was just supporting him.... but....."

Mukta was shell shocked to hear that. She was blank.

Arjun looked her pale face and said,
"But after i met you... and found everything which claimed that you are innocent then i had switched the sides. Even my sister left him when she realised the truth about him. Your brother is a cunning fox, now my everything on stake if i will not marry his sister, according to the contract. My family will lose everything.... i cannot let it happen..."

Mukta became able to speak after so much control,
" so now what do you want? Why you come to me... i cannot even face him... how can i help you in this?"

Arjun got up and looked her,
" marry me.... you have to marry me..."

Mukta gasped on his all of sudden proposal. She jerked her head in denial.
"I can't.... i will not marry you .... no..."

She took step backwards in shock. She was about to vanish from the place when his firm voice stopped her,
"I am not asking... i am just telling you... you said about help, obligations etc... you wanted to return my favours soon so this is the way to return my all the favours...."

Mukta looked disheartened by his words,
"It is called blackmail... "

Arjun clinched his fists and replied in cold tone,
" whatever you think but being his sister, you have to pay the price of his deed. He shouldn't play with us..."

Mukta replied sarcastically,
" if he considers me as his sister...."

Arjun smirked,
" the law does... this world does..."

Mukta looked him and tried hard to convince him last time,
" but... why can't you marry that Riya... everything will be solve with that... you all will be happy..."

Arjun pulled her arm and she flinched on that,
" i know very well what i am doing... don't think too much... just do as i say... we will marry tomorrow...."

Mukta became scared to see the intensity and hate in his eyes.

She was tossing and turning the whole night. She was praying to god for some miracle so that she could escape from the situation. But she knew she wasn't so lucky. She couldn't believe that Arjun could force her in return of his help. She remembered the moment when she was sceptical to take his help as he was a stranger for her. But how he assured her that he just wanted to help her.

Mukta remembered when she told to Mr Gupta.
" he is complete stranger to me. Why he want to help me? He is a businessman, i don't have anything in return then what will be his benefit?"

Arjun who was listening outside came and replied,
"Everything is not about benefit in business. A true businessman knows when he should take risk. Don't think that i am doing it in pity or anything for you but it is because of your brother who not only ditched you but also betrayed me so i want to make him realize that."

Mukta looked him and asked,
"So you want to use me as your pawn against my brother?"

Arjun smiled and replied,
"I want to make you your strength..."

Mukta sighed and jerked his head in disappointment.
" he became my strength breaker also..."

Next morning was different from usual days, Arjun was sure that her answer would be positive while Mukta was reluctant but had no other choice. He helped and saved her when she was lost and broken. She looked him and turned her face down in next moment,
" i am ready to marry you... you said true that you are a businessman who know how and when to take risk. I am not much sensible and clever as you and my brother both but i must say you are both devil who used humans for their gain."

Arjun gave her a curt smile and replied,
" its life... and i don't like to lose infront of losers like Rajveer. You are blind by brotherly love. My sister also had blinded faith on him but i have to be strong enough to face him.... now you can think me devil or saint... i don't care..."

Mukta was speechless. Arjun looked her,
" don't worry... i am just marrying you for my family. We will live like strangers or you can say business partners. You can do whatever you want. This marriage will be namesake. Its deal... but you can't escape from this until i will want."

In the afternoon, they got married in private ceremony at registrars office. She was laughing mentally on her fate. She always dreamed about some fairy tale wedding with lots of functions and rituals but here she was got married by a mere sign on the paper in simple plain clothes. End of her fairy tale completely. She shut her eyes and sighed.

Flashback end.
