As weeks went by Michael's speech improved to the point where he only stuttered if he was talking too fast. In that same span of time Luke began experiencing more symptoms than just nausea.
Mood swings had became a thing. One minute he'd be perfectly fine, laughing and talking with Michael, then the next he'd be crying over a cat food commercial.
Poor Michael never knew what to do when these mood swings occurred, if Luke was sad he'd try to comfort him with hugs and affection. If Luke was angry he'd keep to himself in fear that he may incense the boy even more.
He didn't understand what was going on with Luke's body, hell, Luke didn't either. All they knew for sure was that the baby was growing, and fast.
Dr.Xander said during one of the weekly check ups that Luke's body wouldn't be able to carry the baby full term. Since he didn't have a body that was actually made to carry children he most likely wouldn't have a successful pregnancy. He or the baby one wouldn't make it.
So, the doctor, thinking quickly, had some hormone and steroid pills sent in. The hormones were for Luke and the steroids for the baby, to increase the rate of growth.
The hormones only increased Luke's symptoms and the steroids were working to speed up the pregnancy. The full term of pregnancy would be nine months, if things were to go as planned Luke would be scheduled for cesarean at five months.
After only a week of taking the steroids a small bump was beginning to form above the band of Luke's pants.
He first noticed it when getting out of the shower one day. He slipped on his pants and tore open the door yelling at a very confused Michael about it.
"Look at this shit!" Was one thing he yelled, pointing down at the small bump. "I'm already showing!"
Michael just stared at Luke wide eyed with his ears flat to his head. From the front he couldn't see anything, but when Luke turned to the side then he saw it.
And he got all giddy inside.
Even though he'd never actually been around a baby he knew he'd love them. Babies on tv were cute and always getting into something entertaining. Sure, tv only showed the upside of things but Michael was excited to take on the good and bad.
Now, being two months along Luke's stomach was resembling a large cantaloupe or a basketball. He felt disgusting and hated looking at himself in the mirror. The faint abs he had were long gone and replaced by a swollen baby belly.
Michael was constantly reminding him that he looked fine and wasn't disgusting. All of which Luke replied with, "I'm fat and getting fatter."
So far there had been no complications with Luke's pregnancy. He still went to weekly check ups and got a new sonogram every time. They had a small pile of sonograms forming on the bedside table.
One day at a check up Luke decided to open his mouth for once and bombard Dr.Xander with questions about what happens after the baby is born.
"Luke, I understand that you've grown an attachment to the fetus, but once you've served your purpose of carrying it and it has been born you will no longer be needed. The baby will be mine and we'll wipe out your memory of the past few months."
Luke's heart stopped for a second and his eyes widened. "What do you mean? I'm not even going to get to be with my baby?" He yelled, feeling tears rush to his eyes. His stupid hormones weren't helping with him trying to be stern.
"We'll let you see it but as soon as you're fully healed we'll clear all of the history from these months, almost a year, and you'll be released." The doctor said, waiting for the most recent sonogram to be printed. "Would you like to know the gender or wait?"
When Luke didn't answer the doctor shrugged and pulled the picture out. "We'll let it be a surprise."
-
As soon as the door clicked closed behind Luke Michael was on his feet rushing over, tail wagging. "Did you get another sonogram?"
Luke nodded slowly and handed it to Michael before breaking down into tears. He flung himself against the older boy and pressed his face into the crook of his neck. Michael was startled at first but his arms immediately wound themselves around Luke's shoulders.
"W-What is it?" Michael asked, rubbing at Luke's back.
Luke sniffled and pulled away from Michael, wiping at his teary eyes. "As soon as the baby's born I'm outta here. They're not even admitting that it's our baby, I'm just a surrogate for Dr.Xander's experiment."
Michael frowned confusedly and shook his head. "Y-you mean we-we don't get to take care of it?"
Luke shook his he's and walked over to the bed, sitting down and placing both hands on his stomach.
"We've got to figure something out."
Michael nodded, going over and sitting beside Luke.
"We're getting out of here."
