Luke's hands gripped the stroller containing his baby girl firmly as he and Michael walked at a slow pace behind it. Elbows bumping and Michael occasionally walking around the front to check on Willow and adjust the cute little pink beanie hiding her ears.
"You sure it's not too cold to have her out?" Michael asked for, like, the millionth time.
Luke smiled fondly at Michael's concern. "My brother said it's okay and he has a baby of his own, so."
Michael nodded and brushed his thumb along Willow's rosy cheek. She yawned and he chuckled, waving for Luke to come around and see.
"Aw," Luke cooed. "I'm pretty sure we have the cutest baby to ever exist."
"Definitely." Michael nodded.
They stayed there for a few minutes, just admiring they're baby and giggling whenever she'd do something cute. A strong gust of wind blew by and Michael self consciously tugged down on his beanie.
"Maybe we should start heading back home, though." Luke bit his lip and tucked the blanket tighter around willow's tiny body.
Michael nodded and both boys stood up straight, walking around the stroller. They began their walk back to the car, passing by people who all looked into the stroller and smiled.
Oh, yeah. We definitely have the cutest baby ever.
Luke and Michael just smiled and said thank you whenever someone commented on how cute Willow was before continuing on their way. Everything was all good until two people stopped without saying anything and just stared at Willow.
"Um," Luke mumbled, gripping the stroller tighter and tugging it slightly closer to himself. "Hello?"
"Are you hybrids?"
The question stunned both Michael and Luke, Luke reaching over and grabbing Michael's arm. The beanie clad boy shook his head and placed his hand over Luke's.
"Why do you ask?" Luke mumbled.
The black haired boy tugged on the maroon beanie atop his head and shrugged. "Just wondering."
"That's kind of an off the wall question." Luke frowned. "I mean, we're just out walking with our baby."
The sandy hair colored boy raised an eyebrow. "It's both of yours how is that possible?"
Michael let out a heavy breath and gripped Luke's hand. "None of your business."
The curly haired boy raised both hands in defense. "Calm down mate, just asking." He lowered his hands and shoved them in his pockets. "Let me guess, adoption?"
Luke was about to respond with a lie and say that sure, yeah they adopted the baby, but, the boy jumped back in. "Or, was one of you born with a uterus and managed to get pregnant? I mean, judging by the way she looks like perfect mixture of the two of you and the shocked looks on your faces I'd say I'm right and one if not both of you are hybrid."
Michael sputtered and Luke was frozen. ""Calm down, we're hybrid too. We're not going to rat you out. It's kind of a hybrid thing to be able to call out other hybrids." The black haired boy spoke up. "I'm Calum and sir blabber mouth here is named Ashton."
-
"How did you know?" Michael asked, setting down his warm cup of hot chocolate.
Luke and Michael agreed to sit down and talk with the two boys they met at the park. The four were now sat in a cafe not far from the park. Michael was having a state down with the two boys while Luke gave Willow a bottle.
"Beanie, awkward lump in your pants where I'm assuming your tail is tucked. It's kinda obvious to someone who's doing the same thing." Calum shrugged.
"Maybe the lump was my dick."
"God, I hope not." Ashton scrunched his nose up. "If your dick is wrapped around the back of your leg you should get that checked out."
"Can we stop talking about penises around the baby." Luke glared. "What do you guys want?"
Ashton chuckled and leaned back against his chair. "Nothing, we just knew who you were the minute we saw you. We escaped the facility a few days after you guys."
Luke cringed at the memory of that awful place. "You were there?"
"Yep." Calum answered. "We've escaped a few times. It's became a game of cat and mouse with them."
"Hey." Ashton frowned.
"Sorry." Calum chuckled.
"Wait," Michael's eyebrows knit together. "They came after you and took you back?" he glanced to his left at Luke, worried.
"Yeah, they put little chips in our ears." Ashton shrugged.
Michael reached up and touched his hat. Did they put a chip in him?
"We made sure they won't come after this time, though." Calum spoke proudly. "We felt out the chip and clipped the section it was in."
Ashton cleared his throat and leaned forward. "I mean, sure we have little chunks in out ears now and it hurt like hell, but we're free."
Ashton and Calum smiled at each other, sharing a small high five.
Luke looked at Michael wide eyed. "Do you think they put one in your ear?"
"Shit."
