Jim walked into the living room from the bedroom. He immediately saw Eurus laying on the couch, her eyes closed. Her stomach was noticeably more swollen than it had been a few months ago. Worry lines seemed to have sprouted from nowhere out of her forehead. If not for them, she would've looked peaceful.

Jim walked over to her and shook her shoulder gently. Her eyes scrunched up, as if she didn't want to ever open them.

"Eurus," Jim said gently. "I know you're awake."

Eurus rolled over, grumbling, facing away from him.

"Eurus, honey, the doctor said you have to get the best sleep you can," Jim reminded her. "You can't do that if you're going to take naps all the time."

"I'm just really tired," Eurus grumbled.

"Exactly," Jim said. "You'll sleep better later. Come on, scoot over."

Eurus sat up, opening her bright eyes. They had gained a dull, tired component in the past months.

Jim sat down beside her, his skinny jeans tightening around his waist as he did. He stared ahead at the blank television screen.

Eurus fell back down, into his lap. Jim sighed. He brushed the hair gently out of her face.

"I really want to shout abuse at you, but you're just so Goddamn sweet," Eurus sighed.

"I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not," Jim whispered under his breath.

"I don't know either," Eurus admitted, shutting her eyes again. She exhaled deeply, her muscles relaxing over him.

Jim moved to adjust himself, and he expected Eurus to move away, but she didn't.

Might as well.

He stretched his legs out on the couch, fitting them between the cushion and Eurus. He laid down, Eurus reclining to stay above him. Her head was now on his upper chest. Jim wrapped his arms around her swollen stomach and trapped her head underneath his chin.

"Let's hope she's not as grumpy as you are," Jim teased.

"We don't know if it's a she yet," Eurus said weakly, exhaustion in her voice.

"I just know," Jim shrugged, rubbing his dominant hand up and down her stomach. "I just know she's going to be just like her mother."

"You're so Goddamn sweet," Eurus repeated, putting a hand over his and interlocking their fingers. "And cliche. It's almost annoying."

"Well, I'm not leaving anytime soon, so get used to it," Jim laughed.

"I love you," Eurus said, looking up at him.

"Love you too," Jim said fondly, his face and voice showing this fact in every essence.
