Jeremy Heere didn't like people touching his hair. No one was allowed to touch it, and that's just how things were.
He would avoid any type of contact towards his hair, hell, he even learned how to cut his own hair so no one else touched it.
That didn't stop Michael from trying to imagine what it would feel like. Would it be smooth or a little dry? Would it have knots or not? How curly would it be? How easy would it be to comb through? -Is it weird to fantasize about your best friend's hair? Yes, Michael was aware of that, but so was wondering if his lips were soft or if he liked him back. So, he didn't care that it wasn't normal. He loved Jeremy's hair, it was one of his favorite features about his best friend and crush.
Of course, Michael found Jeremy's hate towards people touching his hair weird. He loved it when his mama ran her fingers through his. Whenever she was reading he would put his head on her lap and she would play with his hair sometimes massaging or even scratching his scalp depending on how the story was going, he didn't mind if she was rough or not though, it was a pleasant feeling either way.
So, one night while the pair was watching movies in Michael's basement Jeremy decided that it was a good idea to lay down his head on Michael's lap.
Now, they were on an L-shaped couch that was long enough for both boys to fit perfectly without touching each other, so you could guess how surprised Michael was at the action. He was also a blushing mess as he looked down and saw how close Jeremy was to his crotch, and how easy it would be to run his hands through his hair.
"God, this movie sucks. It's so unrealistic, the guy was totally crushing on the other chick like two minutes ago." Jeremy threw a popcorn at the screen.
"Hey! Hey! Don't assault my TV screen, she did nothing to you!" Michael protested in a teasing tone. "Plus, what makes you think he's lying about his newfound crush on Ellie?" Jeremy turned to Michael with a raised eyebrow and a look in his face that claimed he was stating the obvious. "Because he's soo not over his last girlfriend, he's definitely using that Ellie chick to try to get over her or whatever." Michael raised an eyebrow and gave Jeremy an amused grin. "How would you know?" Jeremy's expression was suddenly grim as he turned back to the TV. "Takes one to know one," he mumbled in a sad tone.
Michael paused the movie and stared at the back of Jeremy's head.
"YOU ASKED SOMEONE OUT TO GET OVER CHRISTINE AND DIDN'T TELL ME?!?" Jeremy slowly sat up and hugged his knees.
"No, I asked Christine out to get over someone." Michael sat up straight. "I thought if I asked her out I could learn to love her," he rubbed his face with his hand and sighed. "Look, man, I'm not proud of what I did, which is why I broke up with her. Besides, my crush didn't die down, quite the contrary, actually." Michael was shocked, to say the least. He was convinced Jeremy was head over heels for the girl, he was always 'Christine this' and 'Christine that'.
"Well, who is this crush of yours?" Jeremy blushed but stared at the ground with a solemn expression.
"No one I'd ever have a chance with."
"C'mon, Jer, don't say that. You're an amazing guy, anyone would be lucky to date you!" Now both boys were blushing.
"I'll even help you ask them out, I'm sure they'll say yes." Michael was ready to get his heart broken if it meant seeing Jeremy happy, after all, it wouldn't be the first time he'd learned to live with the pain.
"I'm not telling you who it is, Michael." Jeremy laid down on the couch and grabbed the controller, pressing 'Play', ending the conversation with this action as he continued watching the movie.
