"I just feel like you don't love me anymore." Jeremy said with a broken sigh.

Michael's heart, upon hearing those words, split into two. "What do you mean, Jere?" He asked softly.

Jeremy was hugging his legs close to his chest and his chin was resting on his knees. The boy sat against the bed's headboard. His eyes were teary and he looked sorrowful.

"I don't know, you're just never here," he sighed. "We barely ever talk, we never kiss and physical contact is extremely unusual." Jeremy stared at a small stain on his bed. "I feel like you want to leave but you feel like you're stuck with me."

"What did I do wrong, Michael?" Jeremy asked, voice cracking and tears spilling from his eyes.

Of course Jeremy would blame himself. He was always to blame, something rotten and someone to stay away from. He was the complete opposite of Michael. Michael who had kindness to spare, and happiness to spread. Someone so pure and lovable.

At least that's how the boy felt.

"Oh, Jeremy," Michael said sadly as he took a seat next to the boy. "You've done nothing wrong," he wrapped his arms around the boy and held him close. "I could never stop loving you."

Michael felt a tear stream down his cheek. "I'm sorry I've been distant. I didn't mean to hurt you, I love you more than anyone else in this world. You're my everything." Michael pulled the boy closer, burying his nose into Jeremy's hair.

Jeremy sniffled "Do you promise?" He asked with a croaky voice, tears still spilling. They had been welling up for weeks, every day he feared he was losing Michael a little more.

"I promise," Michael kissed Jeremy's cheek. "I will love you forever."

Jeremy smiled, his face was blotchy and tear stained. "Forever?"

"Forever," Michael said fondly. Kissing the boy softly and soothing him.

Jeremy smiled as he looked at Michael lovingly.

'Forever doesn't seem to last long.' Jeremy thought bitterly at the memory as he stared at the sight in front of him and tried not to gag.

Rich and Michael were holding hands and giggling, lovestruck.

It was clear that Michael didn't give a shit about the boy's feelings, he broke things off not long after Jeremy opened up to him and expressed his fears.

"It's not you, it's me, I just don't feel the same, I'm sorry, I hope you understand." Michael's voice repeatedly mocked Jeremy, god, he didn't even have the balls to break up with him in person!

Jeremy wasn't surprised he was just heartbroken. He felt stupid and used, how hadn't he realized that Michael didn't care about him?

Two days after the break up he and Rich went out in a date, the first of many. He tried his best to ignore Michael's new relationship after that, avoiding him as much as he could.

That didn't mean Jeremy was no longer in love, that's the worst part, despite everything Jeremy was still in love with Michael. There were rough nights where he still cried over him, and there were others where all he could feel was anger. How dare Michael use him like that and lead him on?

Jeremy shook his head, adjusted his backpack straps and carried on walking to class in a quick stride. Ignoring Michael's lingering look as he walked past the new couple.

He couldn't believe he'd fallen for Michael's act.

How pathetic.
